I have an 04 BMW 318iSE and ran out of petrol this morning. Luckily I was only a few hundred yards from a petrol station so was able to free wheel to a pump. It seemed to run ok once I'd put some petrol in but I'd like to know how likely it is I've done some damage to the engine and what problems may occur? Is there anything easy I can do to remedy any problems?
I would put a bottle of fuel cleaner in your gas. When you do that you are sucking up all the dirt and grime that sits on the bottom of the gas tank. I always keep a quarter of gas in my vehicles at all times.
