Are kosei K1 wheels still in production?
EJ8 Civic 3

As the title states above, I was wondering if kosei k1 wheels are still in production. Also does anyone know the best place where I can purchase a pair of 15x7.5 in the front and a pair 16x8.5 for the rear. Offset size for a 1991 toyota mr2.

Well I've been looking at tirerack to try and help ya out, and it looks like they have carry some, but I've been having trouble getting them to come up with a price with an MR2 selected. I figure it'd be worth a shot to give em a call.

What is the widest tire i can fit on a 17x7.5 rim? 45series or 40series?
EJ8 Civic 1

I have a set of Kosei K1 wheels for my celica and im not sure whether to stick with the 215/45 or go with a 225/45. Whats the difference between a 40series and a 45. Which has better ride and performance?

If this is a computer engine, it is VERY important to keep the same CIRCUMFRANCE of tire. Measure the total distance AROUND the stock tire, then start looking at wheel and tire size combinations that maintain the stock tire circumfrance. If you can't match sizes you may have to change your speedometer gear to match new tire rotational speed.

If you go to a bigger wheel, i.e. a 17 or 18 inch wheel instead of the stock 15 or 16 inch, you may have to upgrade brakes as well. Stopping distances are increased VERY significantly when you start mounting the tires further away from the hub. It is a simple question of physics and rotating mass. The further the weight is from the hub, the greater the kenetic energy and more braking power is required.

The maximum tire width should be determined by a tire expert. One consideration you MUST make is wheel well clearance. Too wide a tire and the front wheels aren't going to give you full steering before they hit the frame or fenders.

On a 7.5 wheel I don't think I would go beyond a 215 or 225. As to the 40/45 debate, that number is the relationship to the tread width and the lower the number, the less sidewall you will have on the tire. A 225/45 means the tread is 225mm wide and the sidewall height is 45% of the tread width. A 225/40 is the same width but the sidewall is only 40% of the tread width. The less sidewall you have the harsher the ride will be as there will be less sidewall to absorb shock. The lower the second number, the harder the ride but the better the handling. The lower profile tires have less sidewall flex thus they handle better, if you are interested in performance over comfort.

HF tire trailer with toolbox. Can fit 225's across the back with no issues, if you want to fit bigger tires, I've added a mount for a wheel/tire on the neck of the trailer. I was able to fit (2) 275's and a 245 on the back of the trailer and then a 245 on the neck. $200

The trailer is not pretty. I've welded some of the bolted joints to add strength and then painted over with a color that doesn't match the rest of the trailer. Its a hoopty if you will. But if you have a saturday afternoon and are bored - you can make it look nice as it sits in your front yard right next to the washer and dryer
