What is better quality? cast magnesium wheels or forged aluminum wheels?
Which are lighter and more expensive?

Mg wheels man the orginal MAG wheels were made of Mg.

The roads in michigan are terrible, the question is would i be better off with a 16" cast wheel or a 17" forged wheel to battle the jungle of bad roads?

I live in New England where the roads are equally as bad!!! So I understand what you mean by the jungle.
As for wheels - quite simply there is a trade off:
Cast wheels are fairly inexpensive but are not as strong - so replacement is less costly if necessary

Forged wheels - like those found on a BMW are much much stronger and a lot less likely to need replacing but are - as they say in New England "wicked" expensive.

A decent set of forged wheels will set you back around $2000
But a set of cast rims can range from $400 to $1600.

AS for size of rims - I suggest no more than "plus" 2 - any more than a 2 inch larger wheel and you are asking for problems!!!

Im trying to buy 18x8,18x9.5 Centerline Sundnce Galaxy forged wheels for a 1986 Fiero GT. Centerline says I need to find out the right space needed between the callipers and wheels befoer I can place the order. I thought they should know that stuff. Are they talking about the offset? Can anyone help out? Thanks
