Chevy Wheels

i got 4 chevy/gmc yukon/silverado/sierra/tahoe (all the same during the late 90s) wheels that are starting to corrode. the clear coat around the edges and center cap is starting to bubble, especially where the weight for tire balancing used to be. any suggestions how to buff/sand/resurface the wheels with out destroying the finish? i mean something that can be done by a regular person...no sand blasting or industrial resurfacing suggestions. thanks!!

I would have a talk with the body shop manager of your local GM dealer.Have them look at your wheels and there is a really good chance they will be able to help.They will tell to what they do for this problem or give you a phone number of a shop that can correct this problem for a good price and there quility of work is also really good.Best of luck with your wheels.

Use a 1987-1993 Ford Mustang 4 lug to 5 lug converter, available at bigger auto parts stores, or automobile wheel dealers, or JC Whitney (www.jcwhitney.com)

The problem is the offset of the Chevy wheels, the distance between the hub and the edge of the rim is too big for the Rancher, and the tire/wheel assembly will probably hit the suspension. You may have to buy a big stack of wheel spacers to move the Chevy wheel out far enough to even bolt it on, much less be able to steer after they're installed.

The rear wheels on our 2004 chevy aveo locked up. It is front wheel drive. I wasn't around when this happened, but my son said while the car was locked he used the key to open the trunk. When he did that he said the car security thing chirped louder than usual. Could the wheels be locked up due to a security feature or is it some other mechanical problem?

Never heard of a security feature like that. The normal cause of rear wheel lockup is the parking brake not releasing. If it has been wet or snowy in your area and the temperature was below freezing it is likely water got into the parking brake cable and froze in there. The remedy is to heat the cable with a torch or hot air blower (even a hair dryer will do it). Parking brakes are not reliable in the winter - in any vehicle - because of that problem.

What year did Chevy use collapsing steering wheels in their tucks?
I am looking at buying a 1969 CHEVY C-10 and I want to make sure that it has one. How can I tell by looking at it?

GM began installing collapsible steering columns in it's vehicles in 1967. I believe it was a government mandate for all car manufacuturers.

I have a 1995 Chevy K3500 4X4 that I would Like to convert over to a single wheel truck, any help would be Welcomed. I will also need to convert the fronts, I would be willing to trade parts for parts to complete this task.
To Be specific, I have a Dual wheel truck now, and I want to convert to a single rear wheel truck.

Goto a junk yard and get a single wheel rear axle from a k3500. Should bolt right in for you. Though the bed would look funny with the big fenders and a single wheel inside. I've seen people go single wheel to double but never back.
