Car Wheels Rims

Is there anyway I can figure out the invoice/price on shipping 4 wheels/rims across the US, from SouthEast to SouthWest. Where do I find quotes from companies such as DHL and FedEx? Do I have to call them up?

you either call them or go to their website. Tell them what it is, how much it weighs and the size of it. We, fdx, handle rims and wheels every once in a while. If valuable as far as condition goes put them in a box. I have seeing the rims by themsleves but I strongly suggest you put them in a box

I've been told that one of my tires is leaking air due to a bent rim. When replacing this part do I look for a "rim" or a "wheel"?

generally a wheel is stock steel from the factory where as a rim is custom aluminum,or after market.if you say to someone your lookig to replace a bent rim or wheel they will know what your talking about.make sure if you get an aluminum rim you get the old rim back=big scrap money.try transwheel .com to get a new one.you will get a better price to trade your old one for a redone one.they look and perform like new.

Im lookin for these car wheel rims that are silver like any rims but they have a black sort of trim to them, anyone know what the style is called?

ur looking for a black/chrome rim with a machined lip the means u want a rim that is chrome with black accents and a chrome lip go 2 a wheel store and they will be impressed u no exactly what ur looking for

I'm not really sure what they are officially called, but my car wheel rims or hubs or whatever are rather dull, and I wanted to know if I could just sort of... spray paint them a different color?
Maybe like a metallic blue or something?
Would that work? Or is there specific... erm... wheel rim paint?

Yes Absolutely you can paint them.... It would be best if you could take them off the car..... Its ok to leave the tire on..... Clean all the dirt and grease off them.... Dry them off.... Sand down any rust... If the rust is heavy use a wire wheel on the end of an electric drill.... Then sand them down.... Go to a hardware store and pick up Wet Sand paper.... Its usually black or gray sand paper and its made to be used with water.... Keep it wet and sand the finish till its dull.... Primer and paint wont stick to glossy paint finishes.... Use 600 grit paper.... When done dry it off..... let any water evaporate out of any crevasses...... Use paper and tape to mask off the tire.... You dont want overspray on the tire.... Apply a coat of spray paint primer.... after this is dry apply a spray paint coat of what ever color you want....


ABOUT COLOR..... Be carefull --- The wrong color can make the car look corny..... If its an old school car from the 70's or before then you could paint the wheels to match the body, or white, or black or silver and it would look good...... If you car is a newer front wheel drive car then I would avoid any color except black, aluminum color, white, gray or silver.... But hey -- its your choice...

Slap in a new set of chrome lug nuts and it will look great.....

Is it the steel around the inner part of a wheel or is it what is hiding behind the hubcap?

the metal round part that is attached to the car with lug nuts
