I have a 2000 BMW M5 and I thought the factory wheels look pretty good on it. My friend swore up and down that the BBS LM wheels or replica of it would look really good on the car. I saw the design of the wheels and nothing really struck me about the rims as being spectacular. They dont seem to be ugly wheels but they look ok. Anyway I decided to get a set of BBS LM replicas and put on my car 18" wheels which is the same size as the stock one. I thought it looks ok but I started to get a lot of compliments at the dealership and on the street. I still don't understand what is it about the design of these wheels that people go nut over especially the Euro Motorsport Enthusiasts. I don't know what it is ::::shrug:::::

The only complaint I have with this car is the awful looking oxidation/corrosion on the wheels. Has anybody else seen this and/or have a clue as to a procedure and cost for repairing it?
salt in the winter kill those wheels. there are companys that will come out to you and refinish your wheels. about $75 to $100 a wheel
where can i buy new 15" BBS wheels for BMW 530i E34?
BMW can/will get them for you. Part number 36111179774 if you are referring to the plain cross spoke Style 5 .
If you are referring to the two piece 'composite' Style 5 with the hex head bolts around the perimeter these are part number 36111182217.
The above two wheels are stock E34 5 Series wheels with an offset of 20 mm.
The deep dish cross spoke Style 5 in 17 inch with the additional hex head bolts available on the E39 5 Series also known as a 'composite Style 5' is part number 36111093531. This wheel will require hubcentric rings to fit the E34 as do all wheels sourced from an E39 5 Series.

Or try the online vendors like Tirerack, Tiretrends, 1010tires as those are the popular ones.
If you find an aftermarket wheel you are looking for an offset of around 20 mm. AKA IS 20 or ET 20.
You can go to a 9 inch rear with an offset of 26mm and run 255's.
Up front you can run 8 inch wheels but stick to a 20mm offset and the maximum width of 245 with 235 being optimum.

exactly, however i would recommend taking them to be powder coated instead of painted. it looks better and lasts longer. as for the wheels you can look on the bbs website or any volkswagen gathering or forum where parts are exchanged.
Where can buy the silver bbs wheels that come on the upgrade 08'/09' STI? All I can find are gold ones!

Japanese BBS wheels
This video from 1993 clearly shows (some) BBS wheels are produced in Japan. A bit weird for someone living next to Germany expecting a German wheel manufacturer to actually produce them in Germany!
A little research learned that the Japanese company Washibeam produces the BBS F1 Magnesium wheel and all one piece Aluminum racing wheels. They sell those wheels back to BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG and vice versa for the other wheels. In this way the production of the wheels can continue even if either BBS or Washibeam go bankrupt.
