a fin car

The four wheels of an automobile of mass 1510.0 kg are suspended below the body by vertical springs with equal spring constants k=52000 N/m. If the forces on all wheels are the same, what will be the maximum compression of the springs (in m), if the automobile is lifted by a crane and dropped on the street from a height of 0.800 m?

thanks so much! work would be appreciated, but is not necessary.

Use conservation of energy. The Potential energy of the car will equal the energy stored when the springs are compressed, neglecting losses due to friction and flexing or bending of frame, deformation of tires,etc.
mgh=1510*9.81*.8=11850.48NM Now assume this energy is distributed evenly over all four springs.
.5kx^2=11850.48/4
x=sqrt[11850.48/2*52000]=.11395m
=4.5 inches

Why do automobile drive wheels become so much dirtier than the non drive wheels in wet or winter weather?
ford cortina mk2

After years of observation, I am still perplexed!

i think you are referring to the front wheels getting dirtier. it really isn't about the drive, it's the fact that braking creates dust from the brakes and about 80% of the braking is done by the front wheels. consider why: as you apply the brakes and the car slows, more of the vehicle weight is supported by the front of the vehicle and less by the back. therefore, more braking force needs to go to the front than the back because the tire won't slip as easily with more weight on it.

What is the cheapest automobile with 4 wheels I can buy brand new in Texas?

I want to find a car that is under 10k in Texas, is it possible?

I was inspired by the article about the nano, and the fact that I need a working vehicle.

1.57 Magnesium is used in automobile wheels because it is “lighter” than steel.?

rest of question:

What is a more scientifically correct statement of this comparison?

or aluminum wheels, for better performance. The wheels are produced by one-step hot forging from a magnesium alloy known as ZK60, AZ31 or AZ91 (MA14 in Russia). Cast magnesium disks are used in motorcycle wheels.
The mass of typical magnesium automotive wheel is about 5–9 kg (depending on size).

Traveling at a speed of 17.5 m/s, the driver of an automobile suddenly locks the wheels?

The coefficient of kinetic friction between the tires and the road is 0.640. What is the speed of the automobile after 1.10 s have elapsed? Ignore the effects of air resistance

Force of Friction is doing all the deceleration here, so equate frictional force to the acceleration of the truck.

Ff = mu*m*g = m*a = m*(vf-v0)/t

the masses cancel, leaving
mu*g = (v_f - v_o)/ t
.64(-9.8) = (V_f - 17.5) / 1.1
Vf =10.6 m/s

    Putting America On Wheels

    Everyone is interested in buying new cars but seldom do we care to know about the interesting history that automobiles have. The first car in America was built in 1892 by Charles and Frank Duryea. It was a single cylinder, five horse power horse buggy.

    The mass production of the automobile was started by Ransom Eli Olds who assembled a steam powered, three wheeled car in 1891 and a gasoline buggy in 1897. The gasoline car was a huge success by the standards of those days, under the brand name, Dash Oldsmobile.

    By 1902 annual sales soared to over 2000 and by 1904 the number reached 5000. Mass production and the resulting cost reduction was actually brought about by Ransom Olds,...
