Aftermarket Wheels

I am looking at some aftermarket wheels for a Volvo 850R sedan, and I have photoshop installed on my computer - the thing is...I'm horrible at photoshop.

I cannot find any tire/wheel websites that carry these wheels I want, so websites that automatically place wheels on your car like www.tirerack.com are out of the question.

Can somebody provide me with a sort of step-by-step process to putting a pic of the wheels onto a pic of the car? Either that, or a link to a site that will describe how to do this for me? Thanks for your help.

Take the picture of te wheels an use a marque tool to cut around the wheels. Then drag the wheels over the old wheels.

Somebody teach this guy how to shoot a video camera! I'm guessing its a 2.0 Turbo engine auto.

The new wheels are 5x100, so that isn't an issue. But I heard that the stock lug nuts are sometimes not compatible with aftermarket wheels. Can someone help??

Yes this is true because most aftermarket wheels are thicker than your stock wheels so you need longer lug nuts.
Also sometimes your lugs need a heavier/thicker/wider head on them so your wheel doesn't fall of.

Hey all! The Cavalier I just bought came with aftermarket rims, but one was cracked so I had to get a replacement quick to get the car (and the one I found cheap would fit my tires, but doesn't match at all). I'd be interesting in picking up a matching wheel if I could, but I don't know anything about aftermarket wheels.

Who can I find out what kind of rim it is? What's the best way to find a replacement . . . ebay maybe?

As you can see, the car isn't in the greatest shape. I'm going to do some body work on it though to make it look a little better, and I think a matching rim would help that alot.

I'll post a few pics so you can see. The three spoke Pontiac rim is the mismatching one :o

Usually on the inside of one of the spokes will be casting numbers. A rim shop might be able to trace it.
Start by narrowing down the search by measuring the rim diameter and width.

Also I bought a rim from ebay through wheelsalesbyrico check out his store, he might have your rim.

How much difference is it going to make if you leave ugly stock black wheels on a car or leave the nice aftermarket wheels? Is there a estimate on what one should expect? I'm trying to convince my mom in law to give me her nice wheels for money she owes me!

Switch the wheels if it is going to be repossesed.

If the wheels are not itemized in the financial contract, then the bank has no claim to them.

I purchased a set of aftermarket wheels from a store in Michigan. They were on my car for less than a week, less than a 1000km when I hit a pothole. They bent on the outside but also shattered completly on the inside. When I took the wheel off, the whole inside part was still sitting on the disk carrier. The tire was still fine though. After discussion with the store, they refuse to refund or send a replacement since I hit a pothole - their warranty states that damage caused by driving over a pothole voids the warranty, but this damage is obviously caused by poor quality.
I checked the wheels, they are "Made in Taiwan" and there is no DOT approval written anywhere. Is there anything that I can do to get my money back? I've already checked with my credit card issuer and they can't do anything.

This is a classic case of buyer beware. And because they fully explained the warranty, they are not liable. I don't really think there is much you can do.
