hey, i have a 26 inch wheel 9 speed jump bike. i am planning on buying some new wheels for it. my 1st question is, is it possible to go from 26" to 24"? second question is, is there an easy way to put a single speed sprocket on the 24" wheel and keep swapping between the 9 speed and single speed?
thanks in advance,
Dan
Sorry i forgot to mention i have disc brakes so should not cause a problem
Yes.
Yes.
Why would you want to change to a 24" wheel?
If you fit one of those gadget things, you can fit a single speed to a cassette hub. Just line the sprocket up with the chain wheel and use the derailleur as a chain tensioner.
The chain will however be too long.
A good old fashioned single speed will use a screw on freewheel. This can only be used if you have a screw type hub. Make sure that you get one that fits the chain size you are using. As your bike will probably not have adjustable drop outs you will need the derailleur in order to tension the chain correctly. A kit of parts to convert to single speed will include a tensioner, but you will have to change back when you refit the 9 speed wheel.
If you use a cassette with individual sprockets, you can select the sprocket size you need and, by the use of spacers, fit this to your cassette hub.
I still cannot think why you would want to fit a 24" wheel.

I been debating alot lately on what size wheels to get for my charger...What are your views on the 22's or the 24 inch wheels for a dodge charger...What look will look better...What would you recommend?
22's will fit nicely in the wheel wells the 24's might rub the fenders when u turn. i would say 22's cause 24's and it will look like a donk

I'm 2 inches too short for my bike so I rarely ride. The seat can't be lowered any further.
Thanks everyone, yeah, the frame is too big for me. I CAN ride it, but stop-and-dismount are an adventure every time.
When you say that it is too big for you, what do you mean? If you mean that you can not put your feet firmly on the ground with the saddle at it's lowest point, then you are wrong about the size.
Balance on your bike with your feet off of the floor. Use a wall to support yourself. Rotate your peddle so that, with your heal on the peddle and the crank at its lowest rotation. The saddle is the correct height when your leg is locked out in this position. This means that your leg should be slightly bent as you peddle.
Stand over your bike. with your feet about 12" apart. You need about 2"-4" clearance between your nads and the top tube.
Now, it you can not stand over your bike without damaging yourself, the frame is too big. If you can not adjust your saddle height as directed above, your frame is too big.
If your frame is to big, then you are stuffed. If however you can adjust the bike as directed, then your bike is alright, you have just been trying to make it conform to your mislead idea of correct riding position.
Hope this helps.
Luck

I bought this bike for college, but I overestimated my height (I'm 5"0) and my feet barely touch the ground when just sitting on my bike.
Yes, I did try out this bike before I bought it, but my step dad told me that it was not a big deal-after several hours riding it, i now know better.
Can 24 inch wheels be put on this bike?
I'm mainly worried about those retro-wheel cover things (obviously my bicycle lingo is not up to par). Will they bother 24 inch wheels?
The link of the pic below is not exactly my bike, but almost.

Yep...you can do it if you want to. It wouldn't be cheap, though, and you might spend as much as the bike is worth. I'd ask a shop if you can order 24" wheels with a coaster brake hub like what you have on the bike now. Chances are slim, so you may just have to buy new rims and spokes and have the shop employees rebuild them with your old hubs. It's totally possible but may not be worth the cost. As someone else said, clipping your pedals while cornering might be an issue if you do this, because they'll be dropping an entire inch lower than they are now...and that's a LOT of change. It's a cruiser, though, so it might not matter for how you ride the bike.
The most important thing is that you're able to stand comfortably over the frame while off of the saddle. If you're a beginning rider, then it's natural to think that you should be able to sit on the saddle and touch ground, but that's not how most bikes are set up. Cruisers are often set lower than other bikes, but really it's all still in the way you come to a stop and dismount. You should be stepping slightly forward and leaning the bike a little to the side as you come to a stop. When you're pedalling, you want to get lots of leg extension for comfort and efficiency, and that means that your feet won't touch the ground while seated. But you DO need to be able to stand safely and comfortably with your feet flat on the ground when you're stopped.
Since you're pretty short, you may be standing over your bike at a stoplight while your friends are sitting on their saddles with one foot on the ground, but unless you want to spend the money on smaller wheels or buy a smaller bike, that's just how it'll be and it's totally normal. If they set up their bikes the "proper" way, they'd be doing the same thing.
Cool bike....I like cruisers. Hope this helps some! :o)

SEMA 2009: Meet the world's most desirable Lexus RX450h by Branew ...
Let me be blunt: I don't like luxury crossovers. At all. It's a niche with no appeal to me whatsoever. Not a car, not a truck – just a fat sedan jacked up on stilts to woo trophy wives with fancy badges and reassure soccer mammas that their children are "safe." And the Lexus RX gets the sharp point of my spear of anger because it's basically responsible for the high-end CUV craze. Not a fan of hybrids, either. That said, I'm absolutely smitten with Branew's Lexus RX450h.
While I'm not a fan of the CUV craze personally, I can see the point of some. Few buy wagons and these are a middle ground (from a practicality point of view) between sedans and SUVs (or minivans). I'm fine with the 450h, particularly as a 'greener' option among the luxury CUVs. But this? To me, it's tacky. The wheels? The added body panels? Not a fan on this car. But, to each their own.
