I bought all the stuff and have done this before, but my Jeep was easier to work on than my truck. Is there a step by step link I can use for replacing them?
Thanks.
Well, I don't know about a link for that specific information but,
Here's a website that I like surfing around in and it has some links to some pretty useful information.

I would also go to a parts store, (O'Reilly's, AutoZone, etc.), and get a repair manual for that year and type of vehicle, (Chilton, Haynes, etc.).
They are fairly cheap and if you are planning on doing several repairs over the course of ownership of the vehicle, they are worth it. It very well could pay for itself the first time you use it vs. what you would pay an automotive technician/mechanic to do the same job.
If you sell the vehicle to another individual later on you could even toss the manual in with the vehicle.
I hope this helps.
I want to save some money and do it myself...I have limited mech knowledge.
Its a 4.9 liter Northstar transverse motor...the back plugs are a challenge now the info I was seeking was "tricks" or tips to get at the back ones....not slams on how "simple" a process is to change plugs....thank you to those that gave straight up answers but to hell with those "smart*sses" that give useless answers!
I stopped at a local garage to inquire about changing the plugs and they quoted me $138....back to my DIY plan.....
i own a repair shop,,and you really should let someone do this for you,,the plugs can strip off in the plug holes or break off if your not real care full,,and the new ones are real easy to break when your putting them in,,i can understand wanting to save a little money..but this could wind up costing you money,, more than its worth ,,with limited knowledge id let someone do it,,its like a 25 dollar job,,but could cost you a lot more if one breaks off,,good luck,,i hope you take my advice,,i own a repair shop,,and im trying to help save you a lot of trouble.
im needing to replace my existing spark plugs and wires in my 1999 ford escort zx2 and i have NO clue when it comes to cars so i dunno what to do and i DON'T want to pay a mechanic alot of money to have them installed 1 because of the extra money to pay them, and 2 because i want to learn how to do this myself. so i was wondering how hard would it be to do this? also if anybody knew of any websites that would have an illustrated guide on completing this. thanks :)
p.s. stupid answers will be reported answers such as "take it to a mechanic" etc only real people with KNOWLEDGE of cars need apply .thanks again :d
Take it to a mechanic. Just kidding. There are only 4 plugs, in the center of the valve cover. Pull the plug wires off of the plugs, and get a 5/8" socket and an extension. Remove the plugs and install the new ones when the engine is cold. The wires are fit to length, so its easy to replace them. The firing order is 1342 in case you mess up. You can mark the old wires so you know where the new ones go. In fact, a digital camera works really well. The coil is marked for which cylinder it fires..so its not a hard job either way. Takes about ten minutes to perform this....

How to Gap a Spark Plug – Spark Plug Guide
For better engine performance of your car, auto enthusiasts and car fanatics often play a vital role. One approach to carry out for this purpose is to lay down fresh gaps on your car engine’s spark plugs . In the next section, we will discuss about some tools as well as the particular steps or procedure that will help us know how to gap a spark plug .
Why Gap Spark Plugs?
For an inner combustion engine to work, engine fuel requires to be ignited to push the pistons down the cylinder with sufficient force to move about the flywheel. The starting place of ignition for the majority engines is the spark plug. Spark plugs work by creating an electric arc from the electrode found in the plug. The electric arc produced in the spark plug is exposed to the fuel air blend found in the cylinder, and causes the ignition cycle to begin.
...Exactly what are the stock spark plugs ? - my.IS - Lexus IS Forum
I am gonna be changing my plugs tonight after work. I'm gonna pick up the plugs fom Autozone, and I have been looking at my options using the Autozone website. I see the NGK lx Iridium plugs along with other plugs available. Are the platinum plugs just as good ? There seems to be a few dollar difference between the iridum and platinum plugs. I am only looking for the stock plugs. I am not looking for any performance upgrade plugs.. only want what was stock. Can anyone tell me what exactly are the stock plugs ? Thanks
