Car Rims

I want to remove my car rims to make it lighter for racing better torque/ performance etc. Was just wondering any benefit rims give to tyres for alignment etc or its just for show ?

Are you talking about the hubcaps or the wheels itself? If your talking bout the hubcaps, removing them is pointless. If you are talking about wheels, depends on how big you get. Bigger wheels and wider profile means better traction and handling to an extent. That doesn't mean getting like 20 inch wheels as it would be overkill if your car doesn't have the hp and torque. 16'' to 17'' would be just fine in your case.

High tech car rims amazing!!!

I have custom rims on my car but they dont have the same wheel nuts like normal cars have. What will I have to use in order to remove them?

you should have gotten a key that is for those wheels only

this is about car rims design, what is safety guild line standards that comply with the usa governments safety standards and as the international safety standards, for the rims is on the right track or not. i know there is three standards "ANSI" and "SAE" and "TS16949" that should comply. what is these three above stands and where do i get the application from or who i go to. for example: dynamic radial fatigue, dynamic cornering fatigue, impact testing, rim flange strengh, torsional fatigue and stress analysis. what is the rules and where do i get these information from. the other question is : which test it should use for the "car/truck/suv, etc... and who can test it? and what is the cost to test the car rims, i'm planning to design my own car rims from soildworks,or cad. the other question what is the best car rims material, with strenght, fatigue, and cost. the other uestion what is the right core size for teh car rims and what is the right size for lug huts, etc.... thanks.

I'll try and answer this as well as I can...

Tire and rim guidelines are governed by the Tire and Rim Association (T&RA). They create the standards you should follow when creating wheels, that way tires will mate up correctly and also the wheel will mount up to the car. The T&RA will also describe all testing at what loads should be done to the wheels. Start there.

The most reasonable material to produce wheels from is an aluminum alloy. There are many processes used to produce wheels, from low pressure casting to high pressure casting, forging, C&C machined. Even within these categories there are more different methods.

For high production, low pressure casting is ideal. If the wheel is low volume, C&C machined might be better. It all depends on the style of the wheel.

Development costs of producing a wheel will range anywhere from $25k to a few hundred thousand... Low pressure dies alone cost $50k, if you choose to go that route. Not to mention, when any change is made to the design (even small apperance changes affect structural quality), everything needs re-tested.
