Aftermarket Rims

I want to upgrade to an aftermarket rim for my nissan titan. I am confused how this will affect my tire pressure sensors. My dealer said not an issue if I stay with a similar rim but offered no other details. Is the sensor located in or on the factory rim, if so, can it be transfered easily to a new rim? I do not want a constant idiot light showing on my dash.

Most sensors are part of the valve stem. If you can transfer them to the new wheels you should be ok.

I bought the car with with these aftermarket rims and tires on it.. its a 2001 bmw 330i everytime i hit a bump my back tires get cut up..shoud i just grind down the wheel wells?

You may be able to take a sanding wheel and shave a little bit of the lip out of the fender. Do it slowly so that you don't heat the metal and burn the paint.

You could also bend the fender out slightly. I'm guessing you need just a tiny bit of room. Nobody would be able to notice it... Just bow the bottom of the fender lip outward slightly.

I'm assuming that this is where the contact is.

I just bought a 2007 Expedition..I put 22s on it. But the factory wheels had the sensors in the wheels to monitor tire pressure...The guy said I could put them on the new wheels but it would cost alot. I need a special larger band to strap the sensors to the rims cause they are 22s .The system can not be deactivated by Ford for safety reasons...So I get a constant alarm with light all the time..They communicate to the car computer via radio transmission. I had all 4 sensors mounted inside the spare in the back but that didn't work....Anyone got any better ideas?
I am not so concerned with the price. I just don't like the idea of having these expensive rims/tires taken back off and put on tire changers and having crap installed on them..I am afraid they'll muck em up....

You only have two options....
1) find someone to deactivate the TPM system from the onboard computer (which you already said Ford wont do)
2) put the TPM's back in the wheels. You may be able to get a compatible valve mounted version.

I dont see any other options. The TPMs have to be "rolling" for them to transmit to the car. thats why putting them in the spare won't work.

Try slipping the tech at the dealership a $50.

I tried to put my g/f stock 2005 mustang rims on my 2006 ranger and they wouldant fit. The bolt pattern is the same, but I couldant get to the bolts because of a high part. If i wanted to buy diffrent rims would i have to get spacers so they would fit?

If you purchase your rims for the specific application, they will fit properly without any spacers or modification.
