I am looking to purchase aftermarket rims and tires for my Wrangler Unlimited X but don't have the cash to do a lift. I would love to put some Nitto Terra Grapplers on an 18" rim but am not sure what sizes to get in the wheel or tire... I would like to do the widest wheel and biggest tire I can. I really appreciate any help with this.

You should get 215/40/18 or the even lower profile tire of 215/35/18. I do think that 225's will stick out and maybe rub, so stick with the 215's.

I just got 18" rims and tires (225/40R/18) for my 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. When I drive my car, it doesn't really feel smooth. Since I have 18" rims/tires, am I supposed to feel all the "bumps" when driving? Anything I can do to fix that?
You now have low profile tires.
You'll feel more bumps because your tires have less crush. A higher profile tire will have softer sidewalls that squish more over bumps.

Yes they will just use a tire with a lower profile, so you wont have any turning issues.

The 33.7" LT305/65R18 probably wouldn't rub with stock rims and a mini-lift. If they did, it would only be on the mud guards, and the fender liner ... not the pinch weld itself. But I think it will clear all of it, unless your alignment has the front wheels too far back, and you would probably want an alignment anyway with new tires.

I got 255/35/19s on 19.5 +17 offset in the front (be advised that these are NOT winter tires). I had to raise my car a bit, from being slammed, to prevent it from rubbing. With a little bit of camber, i'll be able to lower it back down again without it any rubbing issues. I'm getting an alignment tomorrow. After that...i'll be posting pictures.
