I've had my car insurance in the UK for 10 years and have 70% no claims discount (deductables as you would call it in the US).
But because I'm here now in the US permanently, is it at all possible to pass my deductables from my UK insurance company to that in the US when I need to buy insurance?
oops sorry, I mean Bonus discounts.
Thanks.
a deductible is not the same as bonus, a deductible is an excess,
UK bonus is not recognised by US insurers

I recently exchanged my Canadian driving license for a full UK license but insurance quotes are so high because most companies only consider that I haven't had my full license for more than a year (in fact I have had a full Canadian license for 8 years). The insurance companies also don't seem to consider that I have had no claims on my Canadian insurance for 8 years. Does anyone know of a UK car insurance provider that will consider foreign driving experience in their quotes?
Try Liverpool Victoria - they are based in Bournemouth??
You can get a quote on the web, but in your instance I would call them and discuss your situation, I even got an introductory 1 year no claims bonus.
Their number is - 0870 6004528
And good luck.

I am about to get my full UK driving license and purchase a car, and need auto insurance - given that my UK license will be completely new, will any UK providers take into account the fact that I have been driving with a US license for the past 9 years?
probably not as you'll have been driving on the other side of the road. Try searching for specialist insurance compaines. its unfortunate that you cant use a foreign licence in the uk for more than 1 year. maybe sites like moneysupermarket.com or confused.com could help

My brother lives in Sweden and pays so much less then he did (And I do) in the UK. More than that over there it's the car that is insured rather than the driver (or at least with his policy) so anyone over 25 years old can drive it!
So apart from the 5% tax that the government charge why are our policies so much more - Is there anyone who working in the insurance industry who can answer this please?
I'd love to not buy car insurance but in the UK it is compulsory
Think the UK is expensive? Try Ireland on for size!
For example, to insure the vehicle in UK I'd need to pay about £2500, but abroad I'll pay maximum of £400 for the same vehicle with same specs. and all the data about me. What is the reason that UK insurance companies charge so much?
thanks
I pay £950 for my DB9, what the hell do you drive !!

Earning the dubious accolade of being the worst parking space in Britain is Alton Business Centre, Hampshire, nominated by budding entrepreneur Jamie Dickinson, 18, from Lower Froyle near Alton: “This truly is a nightmarish space,” admits Jamie. “Being sandwiched between two walls and the two other sides blocked by cars meant my car was cornered in and I was trapped after a meeting!” It’s not just the spaces that are getting a bad name for themselves, airport car parks and hospitals are just as guilty, Gatwick’s short stay gets two votes, Stansted one vote, and three hospitals - University Hospital Llandough, Sunderland Royal Hospital, Western Park Hospital,...
