hello
i'm an 18 year old guy
i passed my DMV tests and should be getting my license in the mail anytime
I LIVE IN TEXAS.
I have a 1999 Ford f-150 Black Truck and since i'll be hitting the mean streets soon, i need insurance of course. i AM trying to find a much cheaper one, if you'll say but keeps me legal but for less.
Oh and I am a senior in high school so yes I'll be having an after school job so I guess you can say I don't make much.....
please help
Unless you can get yourself on your parents insurance....I'm afraid that ..because of your age and inexperience....you will pay a higher rate.
That's just the "nature of the beast" in the insurance world if you try to get insurance on your own.
Only time..and experience without any violations.. will lower your rates with your own insurance.
If you get convicted of a DWI in Texas, do you have to tell your car insurance right away or wait till they find out, and then raise the rates?
I have a friend that heard a rumor that you have to file some sort of SR24 (not exactly what it is) with your car insurance or if you get in an accident and they find out you have one on your record, they won't pay for the car. I'm confused, but dont want to hang ourselves either.
You don't have to tell them, they'll find out.
That SR22 form is an endorsement on your auto policy - you USUALLY have to have it, if you've been driving WITHOUT insurance, or your license has been suspended. It's not triggered by the DUI, it's triggered by the suspension or lack of insurance.
Yes, they'll find out about that DUI on their own - they're going to run a motor vehicle record check every time your policy renews, and they'll find it then. Don't listen to rumors. When in doubt, talk to your agent.
I have State Farm insurance in Texas, how much do you think my rates will go up if I hit somebody, and I'm a minor who's driven for a year?
**The man who I hit MIGHT need his bumper replaced, and it was my first accident.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...good luck..can you say sky high?
We are shopping for a used car for my teen daughter this weekend.
Two years ago we bought a new Toyota for my stepdaughter's HS graduation, the payment was $320/mo, but when the insurance came in, the insurance was $472/mo, much higher than the car payment!!!!
We want to make sure this does not happen again. I do NOT want to put in a bunch of personal information (zip code and age of driver should be more than sufficient), I just want a generalized quote to compare different cars so we can rule out certain makes/models if we need to. Anyone know of a site that can let us do this? (We are in Texas if that helps)
I do not need a true quote. We have had State Farm for decades and will never switch.
I just need an estimation on what cars will be highest, lowest, etc. so we can rule out certain makes/models (ie, if the insurance on a Land Rover Discovery is going to be around $450 a month, but a Nissan Pathfinder is going to be around $300 a month, we will totally nix the Discovery off of the list). We could care less what the *actual* rate will be, we just need a range. And I will never give out anything more than age, zip code, etc. The first sites mentioned in the answers require very detailed personal information which I would never give out online.
If you don't want what you have mentioned to happen again, don't buy a car via a loan but buy it cash, then insure it for liability only.
spend 2 grand for a car and a grand or $1500 yearly to insure it and forget monthly payments.
Generally speaking, the slower (and safer) the car, the less the insurance will cost for it.
I somehow know the above isn't going to help new Toyota buying people but it's you complaining about a $472/mo insurance so perhaps you *shouldn't be* buying brand new cars. I know it also sounds like patronizing.. lol I feel like wiping this lot but I'll post it anyway because 99% of people I know envies my low outgoings and love the look of my car :)
Safer Drivers or Just Uninsured? Either Way, Auto Insurance Rates ...
By Steve Clark, The Brownsville Herald, Texas
Sep. 4--Brownsville drivers collide with each other less frequently than drivers in any other Texas city, according to the fifth annual Allstate America's Best Drivers Report, released in July.
Whether it's because drivers here are more skilled, or less insured, than the rest of Texas isn't clear. And while you'd think safe driver status equals low insurance rates in the eyes of insurance companies, it's not necessarily that simple.
For the past three years, Brownsville has topped t- he list of the state's safest drivers. This year the city is ranked as having the 23rd safest drivers in the nation -- a two point slip from last year, though it still puts Brownsville ahead of 24th-ranked Omaha, Neb. Brownsville's nearest in-state contender, McAllen, ranked 39th, though Texas border cities tended to rank high compared to cities farther north in the state.
...Texas Car Insurance – Tired Of Overpaying? | Health Insurance ...
Texas state vehicle coverage laws are relatively simple. The Lone Star State follows the common 25k/50k/25k minimum insurance coverage plan. This means:
$25k minimum insurance coverage bodily injury liability for one person of the other party in one accident, $50k minimum insurance coverage bodily injury liability for two or more people of the other party in one accident, $25k minimum insurance coverage in damages to the other party’s property in one accident, Note that these are the minimums.
If it turns out that the expenses exceed your insurance coverage, the money will come from out of your pocket. To prevent the scary-out-of-pocket option, the consumer must find out how to get the The majority vehicle coverage for the least quanity of money. Comparison shopping is the simplest and fastest way to see what vehicle coverage companies have to offer you. This can be done from visiting only one website. After submitting a little info about you and your vehicle, the site will calculate estimated premiums for various vehicle coverage companies.
