My daughter will soon be off to uni, she wants her own car but will only use it when she is home for weekends and holidays, I have heard that some insurance companies will cover her for just these days - anyone know who?
Providing your daughter is over 21 and has held a full UK/EEA/EU licence for a minimum of 12 months, this shouldn't be a problem.
She can purchase (or good old Mum can) insurance cover from between 1 to 28 days.
The coverage levels of Auto insurance car insurance was given depending on the type of coverage purchased, while buying Auto insurance ...
For students in the UK or people who know, how much is the cheapest car insurance you can get?
itsa 13000 cc vauxal tigra
I went to a site and they quoted 3000 pounds a year... that's more than the car is worth and more than the car has been worth for a long time.
There are tons of websites where you can get an online quote. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Auto-Ins urance-Quote.html It only takes about 5 minutes to do.
Hi there, I just wanted to know if I could drive my mums car, well I am a student and have my own car and driving it legally as a second driver under my mothers name, now here is the confusion i am getting, she bought a brand new car for herself under full comprehensive insurance will i be able to use it?? She said i can use it because it covers third party users under her consent but still not sure i do not want to drive the brand new car without making sure that i can drive it legally. thanks... =]
Try getting an online insurance quote It's free and quick to do. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-In surance.html
Good Luck!
I have just got my provisional and just started my lessons.
I have been looking into buying a car now so i can drive as soon as I pass my lessons. But all the insurance is so expensive there's no way I can afford any of it. I'm only 19 and still in college. Even if I got a part time job I still wouldn't be able to afford any of it. How do students afford to pay like £400 a month? or is there a cheaper way of doing it?
Hi, it will depend on what type of car you get, how many miles its done and where you live. I was 19 when I got my first car, a Renault clio(52 plate) It had hardly done any miles. As it was quite new but not too new, the Insurance wasn't so bad. £1,000 a year for fully comp. Luckily, I had it paid for me.
The next year it had gone down by alot and so on. If you can afford to pay it all at once, it is cheaper than paying monthly installments. Can you be the 2nd person on your parents insurance? Keep it in a garage? Look at a cheaper, lower mileage car? Women only insurance. Try 3rd party quotes instead of fully comp as they are cheaper. Also if you do Pass plus, this will lower your insurance.
When you find cars you like, usecomparisonn websites such as confused.com to check out quotes.
Hi there!
I am looking to purchase my first car and honestly do not have a clue about them!
I am a 17 year old student on a sponsorship in the Merchant Navy, so a kind of cross between Student and Employed!
I am looking for my first car - basically in a decent insurance range and cheap to run. I will be using it a lot mostly for college and traveling to and from shifts with a voluntary organisation!
Around 20k-25k miles per year
I really don't know which types of cars i should be looking at, due to do my weeks driving (crash) course in the next few weeks.
From random searches of cars like older Ford Focus models and VW Polos (1.4) i am getting the same price of around £1300 with Quinn Direct (which is strange as they quote £1300, the next insurer above it quotes £3000!).
It will get used well!
I'm not looking to start messing around with it, customizing this and that. But i still want it to look a little decent if its (hopefully) going to last a good while!
My limit to buying the car will be around £2k!
Any advice would be brilliant! Cheers
I have been quoted only £1159 by Quinn Direct for a "1999 FORD FOCUS 1.6 Ghia 5dr Hatchback".
Is this right? They same to offer really really cheap insurance for decent cars and young people, when the next quote above it hits the 3k mark!
Are Quinn Direct a reputable insurer? Or do they land you with hidden costs after the first year?
autoinsurance.undonet.com - check this one. As I remember they have lowest car insurance rates for teens and young drivers.
Should I go to university? | Best UK Loans
I would wait until the a level course is over until you start uni. in that time you can do some work experiance working with animals which will help you getting into uni. since you have a low income you can get bursurys to help pay for uni and (my brother is currently doing this) you can get a part time job at a shop or something while at uni. the job market should have recovered by then and you would be able to pay a little way for uni. a student loan is inevitable and you may need it to help pay off certain things.
overall talk to your bank and ask them (do this next year so that they dont panic about loans being given out) how you would pay for everything. they can normally sort...

Has posted a new item, 'Student Car Insurance: Drive with Minimum Risks'
Lots and lots of students are going to the university in their own cars. Life
of a student is an age of fun and adventure; the same is the case with student
drivers. They are adventurous and risky drivers. Be it racing on the streets,
going to unknown places; everything they do involves risks. They may get
involved in some sort of legal liability or may get injured while on a drive.
All these may involve hundreds and thousands of pounds and even may dampen your
joyful spirits. Thus, it is highly advisable for you to buy a Student car
insurance policy. Parents find it hard to believe...
