Shop For Car Insurance

I am looking to buy a new car. It is a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. I live in Wisconsin, am 29, and have an excellent driving record. I need full coverage, and called my insurance agent (Progressive- which I've been with for over 12 years) and they said, for an average, about $500 every 6 months. Is this a little high or is this about average. Are there any other car insurance companies that might offer better rates?

if it was me I'd call 10 insurers before accepting the one quote, sometimes more than that. Let's say I'll spend the whole of TWO hours calling around and it is always well worth it.

On Sunday, I was at Home Depot. I came out of the store to discover some a-hole hit my car with a metal shopping car, leaving orange paint down the side and a good sized dent. Two witnesses came up to me and gave me a description of the car and the license plate number. I don't want to pay a deductible, I want this jerk to pay for it. If I call my insurance and tell them about it, will my rates go up? How else can I get this guys information to take him to small claims court?

For example, do they need to know about my ticket for an expired sticker? and how long ago do they ask about speeding tickets and wrecks...I've had both, but it's been years, but I don't remember how long ago exactly.

I was just curious, as I am shopping for car insurance for the first time. I am a 23 year old male, so it will probably be higher than a lot of others, but I was wondering what you think is a fair rice as I shop around? Recommend a certain insurance company? All answers will be appreciated!

To get cheaper insurance you just SHOP AROUND A LOT.

But to find a cheap price you should get several quotes, do some legwork till something really cheap will come along.
