Hi, i have just passed my driving test and got my first car, i found that Prudential has the cheapest quote for me but i have heard stories about paying online that it is not safe and you dont get the amount of cover they say you're gonna get.
Is anyone with prudential??? what do you think of them? is it safe to pay online??
Thanks :)
Prudential has very small market share im most areas. They are known for rate swings, I would call your state's insurance commissioner (your tax dollars pay him or her) and ask that office for the top writers in the state and check with those. Generally they have more stable prices than writers who have a small share of the market.
An agents advice is usually part of what you get with car insurance, I wouldnt pass on it. Most companies with agents also have a way that you can pay online and all that.
UK comedian and writer, Tony Hawks, talks about the aggravation of getting good value for an affordable price on car insurance.
Hi everyone, somebody hit my car and drove off about 3 weeks ago. I phoned my insurance up and made a claim, the problem lies now on my son, who is the addtional driver and who hasnt been driving my car because he doesnt need to. The problem is that he has had drink driving conviction and no insurance conviction for about 3.5 years. Prudential my insurance company want to see my licence and his licence counterparts, BUT we completely forgot about the convictions etc. So now I have a problem where i think my insurance will be void but he doesnt drive the car nor was he involved in the accident. What happens now as they have requested both photocopies of our licences, is there a way out of this, thank you
yeah but they have towed the car and stuff would i have to pay for all of this
I do not accept that you forgot those two convictions unless you are a regular attendent at the Magistrtes Court and have a lot of convictions.
Given that you have not declared two material facts when you insusred the car they will look very closely at the terms of the insurance and also to try and check if it is a fraudulent claim. Given that you have withheld relavant facts about about your son who is on the insurance they will be suspect that you are lso hiding other facts
my mom is lookin for car insurance in nj around hudson county.she already went to statefarm and they were too expensive.she went to these other place.i think travelers(i think travelers was her original car insurance for sum yrs now but she had to renew the insurance or sumthin) and prudential but she said that they were gonna charge lyk $200-300 extra for every car accident shes had since 2005,even if the accident wasnt her fault.i dont think they were in her car,she works as a bus driver and i think she got hit by sum other cars 3 times.anyways, they both wanted to charge her $2,600 or sumthin per 6 months.any1 no any car insurance that isnt very expensive or wont charge much for accidents.thnx!
im srry.travelers wasnt it.that was the name on the envelope my mom got.the company is call first trenton or sumthing.my mom said the name changed over the yrs but shes had that insurance since she started driving.probaly about 15 yrs back
I have travelers now they used to be called first trenton and they were always good to me. I found that allstate, state farm and prudential charge an arm and a leg in jersey. My advice would be to look in the yellow pages and then call each agency and ask them for a quote most will do it over the phone. Good luck
i know that Prudential are absolute bo!!ocks, so who IS any good?
Would like opinions on the followign companies specifically as they've given the best quotes (although any other advice is welcome):
Dial Direct, Premier, Budget, Yes, Post Office.
If you know where their call centres are then that'd be helpful too! Am trying to avoid overseas customer services, too stressful!

Recently, I had a car accident where my engine caught fire and the car burnt out. I was covered with Third party FIRE and theft insurance which means they have to pay out if I have a fire in my car.
Anyway, the accident happened 7 months ago, and I have never experienced such bad customer service and such a big bunch of liars in my life.
Every time I ring them to ask about my claim, they keep fobbing me off telling me that 'the claim is under review' and they'll get back to me. I think they think I'm just going to give up in the end, and not bother claiming back for £7000 worth of written off car.
Anyway has anyone else here had grievances with this awful company (by the way thier part of RBS - royal bank of Scotland group and also own Prudential Insurance)?
Hi Doug -
Yeah the car accident occured as a a result of the smoke emitted from the engine before impact. It distracted me, and the brakes failed, and I ended up rollling over in a field and watching the rest of the car burn till there was nothing left of it.
Therefore, cause of accident and main damage was fire.
You say that you had a car accident, if it was your fault, or partially your fault, then your vehicle would not be covered for any damage caused by your accident, i.e. if the fire was caused by the collision. sorry but that's what it looks like to me, and I wasn't there, (but you did ask)....
Prudential Car Insurance - Wallop! with Tony Hawks
Notice the glaring innacuracy? When opening the car insurance letter and air bag going off in his face, the letter is a mailsort letter with the m in the corner which you only see when receiving junk mail. Insurance letter would be sent as 1st or 2nd class, you learn something new everyday with me
