Co-op car insurance no claims problems?

My nephew is a named driver on his stepdads insurance policy, he is changing his car and has found a better quote elswhere, the problem is that he has earnt 1 years no claims with them but the co-op claims that they wont pass on his no claims to a new insurance company as it is exclusive to the co-op and he will have to stay with them to make his no claims bonus count, can they do this?

sorry but he can't get a no claim bonus as a named driver. He can't even claim he's ever been insured, strange but true.

Can you get a two day permit for a non-op car in CA with no insurance?

My husband is insisting that he can get a special "two day" permit for the car he is restoring so he can drive it to and from the shop and not have to have insurance on it. We got into an argument about it because I said there is no way the DMV would give a permit to drive a vehicle without insurance and he says I'm wrong. I looked all over the DMV website and I can't even find any mention of this special permit. Is he making this up?

I don't have time to research the California Vehicle Code at the moment, but I'm inclined to agree with you. You MUST have insurance on any vehicle that you drive on the highway. There are such things as temporary "trip permits", but they are for use by out of state commercial vehicle that must enter / pass through California for business reasons. A simple solution to this situation would be to simply have the car transported to the shop on a "flat bed" tow truck.

ive made a fire clam on my car insurance what will the co op insurance give me 4 a 2001 astra club?

car non op and insurance question?

If i get a non op on a car, jeep, in the state of california, do i have to have the car parked on my drive way or can i also park it on the street? i'm also still making payments for the car with bay federal credit union. If the car is non-op'd, do i still have to keep the full coverage insurance on it? I want to pay it off faster so i can sell it and forget about it. THe car doesn't run.

autoinsurance.noneto.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

Insurance?

do i still have to provide insurance on a vehicle if i get a non operation permit? Im still making payments on the car so will the bank still want insurance? Can i even get a non op. on a financed car?

If you are financing a car, you have to have insurance. The finance companies check every few months and if they find you don't have insurance, they send you a letter telling you to provide the info. If you don't, they will then go out and get full coverage and nearly double what you can get it for.

As to how they check, they send an inquiry to the insurance company you listed. If you are still in good standing, they will let the finance company know. If you are no longer in good standing\dropped the policy, they tell the finance company that too. That is how they find out.

FML: my plates on my car were stolen. On the way to the police ...

- Concept : An anecdote always starts with "Today" and ends with "FML". There are no taboo subjects, feel free to express yourself. - CAUTION : Read your message over. Please don't use text language and avoid making too many spelling mistakes. - If your story isn't published on the website, don't feel offended, and thank you nevertheless!

So waiting "an hour" for the police to arrive is more of an inconvenience than driving without plates and getting pulled over and having your car towed? I don't get it. Some how it just seems like the logical thing to do would be to *find* a phone (I won't assume you have one) and call 911. Have the police come to you. There's a novel concept. When my car was sideswiped in front of my house, I didn't drive it to the police station to file a report. I called and they came to me. funny how that works, huh?

Op-Ed: Congress Should Expand Advanced Technology Vehicle ...

The following is the opinion of Jason M. Hendler whose blog can be seen here. Currently, the Congress is debating an expansion of the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing (ATVM) program to include vehicles like the Aptera 2e/2h. The House passed legislation that would define any vehicle that encloses two passengers and achieves 75 mpg’s as a car, bringing Aptera under the ATVM program, but also forcing it and similar vehicles under tighter vehicle safety requirements. Wall Street Journal Online – “Debate Arises on 3 Wheeler” I believe this is an overly burdensome requirement that strays from the purpose of the ATVM program. If the government wants to support vehicle manufacturers that are attempting to produce alternative fuel / propulsion vehicles, then they should include alternative fuel / propulsion motorcycles and scooters under the program without adding safety requirements that only apply to cars. Companies such as Zero Motorcycles, Brammo, KLD Energy Technologies, as well as Zap and Aptera, deserve consideration, as these vehicles will become an important mix of our future transportation landscape. Hopefully, the Senate can fix the House’s legislation to change the ATVM legislation to include motorcycles and scooters, instead of changing the definition of a car to only cover the Aptera 2e/2h, which overly burdens their vehicles to unnecessary safety requirements.
