Well, I just got a new car and need to get insurance. I was wondering what the best site is for insurance quotes and where I can get the cheapest insurance? Thank you in advance!
There is no best place.
Insurance companies target market certain groups of people and give them their best rates. Groupings are based on prior insurance coverage, age, gender, credit rating, driving record, marriage status and even occupation. Your best source would be your local independent insurance agent. He/she knows who writes which group at what price.
Also, your agent can advise you on how to obtain the best quotes not just now, but also in six months. You may need some grooming.

I'm looking for a non-biased list of quotations. I'm from New York by the way. Anybody knows any website where I can get a list of car insurance quote online?

i am looking for a online auto insurance quote, but i dont' know if the submitting the personal info will be safe?
secondly do you have some good site where can i get a onlien quote, submitting the minimum info?
yes, there is no problem in submitting personal info since the so called personal info is just basic info that is used to get a generic insurance quote.
that cannot be used for identity stealing.
My husband and I are looking for ways to cut back spending. We wanted to look for better car insurance rates so we looked online and got a quote that was considerably less (about 700.00 less a year) with the same deductibles and options we already have. My question is ... has anyone done this and had good luck with it? And does this "to good to be true" rate increase after they real you in? And what is a good company to go with?
Be careful because sometimes these low rates don't last long. Typically, they raise them considerably after you sign up
They want to collect personal information from consumer reporting agencies, such as driving record, claims, and credit history reports.
Is it safe for me to fill out the online form and give Progressive.com (Progressive Direct) the OK it needs in order to collect this information to give me a quote, or is this a possible Phishing expedition that I might regret later on?
Thanks
My credit history is excellent, as is my driving record clean of any tickets or accidents.
I was just concerned about the sharing of my personal info where I might start being contacted by other companies wanting to sell me something.
Appreciate everyone's input.
While you're right to be concerned the fact is that Progressive is a huge company, hardly a fly-by-night operation. If they were to misuse the information you could sue the snot out of them.
If you were to call them the same information would be requested. If you were to go into an Progressive office, the same information would be requested.
As long as you're sure you're really at the real Progressive website, you'll be fine.
