Modified Car + Insurance? Help!?

Hello, i just paid for a fiesta Zetec, 1.25 1999, and i Insured it under a Standard Fiesta Insurance... (THIRD PARTY FIRE AND THEFT)
the problem is, it's lowered, and has tinted back windows and a different exhuast... i just wondered if i get pulled over? will i get points? Liscense take off me? or is ok to still drive? and if i do unfortunately have a crash, will i still be covered? Because i was thinking its ok to still drive, but they will only pay out for the value of the car, and the parts that come standard.
Thanks for your time.
[ I am planning on gettin the height of the car Set back to normal, and the tints removed]

You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com

Is having clear lights on a car class it as modified on insurance?

i have just bought a 307 2.0 hdi and thinking of putting clear lights on the back to match the front but was wondering if it class it as modified on insurance any hep will be appreciated thanks

Yes it will be classed as a modification, you must declare it and it will have no effect on your premium as it has no effect on the risk.
Insurer may ask for written confirmation from you that the light units are "E" marked and so suitable for road use - some that you can buy are not.
In the event of a crash or theft then the insurer will only replace to normal out of the factory standards.

Once upon a time these lexus style lights were rare and i nearly got some myself - now all the boy racers have them, there are loads around and so I chooose other things to personalise.

Can I help a friend with high car insurance?

I've got my own car, i'm 30, and am insured on it obviously, but a friend who is only 20 has just brought a modified car, and the insurance is quite high.

Can I be the main driver on his car insurance and then he be added to the policy, and would this lower the price?

or if I can't be the main named driver, can I be added to it and would this lower the amount??

Just trying to help him out really, he's skint until the end of the year, and didn't realise the insurance would be so high!!

Cheerz

Yeah you could be the main policy holder and have him as named driver. That may reduce the amount but because it's modified, and his age, it may not reduce by that much. Also, doing the above may not even help him build his own NCB. If possible, ring around for companies that specialise in modified cars as they normally have good deals. If you would like more info, you could buy a copy of something like Max Power or Revs etc and have a look at their classified section near the back. There are loads of insurance numbers there that he could ring.

The Difficulties in Getting Cheap Modified Car Insurance Packages ...

The adage “one size fits all” does not exist in the industry of car insurance . In fact, one package that fits the needs of a particular policyholder would not necessarily fit the needs of another policyholder – in spite of the fact that both owners drive the same car right down to the model, make, and year. The same goes when you are shopping for modified car insurance . And it is because of this that drivers find it difficult to find the most suitable and affordable package that works for them.

Just what exactly is modified car insurance? And what makes it different from regular insurance packages? By definition, this type of insurance provides coverage and protection to cars that have been modified. These cars have undergone modifications – whether these pertain to the engines or the bodies of the cars – to make them perform better and drive faster on the road. Remember the cars that you saw on the blockbuster, “The Fast and the Furious”? Those cars are great examples of modified car – cars that have been reengineered to emphasize speed, endurance, and that sporty look and feel car aficionados look for.
