Can car insurance rates increase after a speeding violation as a Minnesota resident if the violation takes place in Florida in a Florida registered vehicle?
Insurance is based on risk. They take several things into account to determine your risk factor, including your age and driving record.
It is possible the ticket could put you in a higher risk category, but that could be different with every insurance company.
The fact you were in another state and in another car does not matter. The ticket is assigned to the driver, not the car.
If your insurance does go up, you could try calling a few different companies. Some forgive the first ticket, but if you get two they will consider both.

Ok I messed up tonight and got pulled over and got my car impounded. I didn't have insurance as you may have guessed from the title. I need to know if there is any insuranccompany'sys open on a saturday that will let me purchase a pre paid month or some short term insurance just so I can get my car out. (I wont be driving anymore ithat'sts what your thinking)
Thanks
Geico or another online insurance company will sell it to you and let you print out the info. Probably even tonight. By the way, you will most likely lose your license now for ninety days or so. In Indiana you would anyway for not having insurance when you were ticketed. Good luck.
(my parents car has insurance but my names not on the card does it need to be for me to drive it)
As long as the vehicle is insured, you are legally able to drive it. If you are involved in an accident, however, the insurance will not cover you as a driver and you will be liable for all damages whether the incident is your fault or not.
I got pulled over in my car a year ago for an unrelated issue. But I did not have proof of insurance even though I did have insurance at the time. The officer told me to show the proof of insurance later and I will be fine.
So, later I mailed a copy of my insurance to the citation place but got a letter back that I needed to show up in person. I put this aside to take care of later, but forgot about it and just remembered it a few days ago because it came up in a conversation somehow.
It has been a year now and I am really scared about getting a misdemeanor. I am otherwise a good person who always pays my fines. Am I going to be arrested for this? I haven't heard from them since the letter I received a year ago which I cannot find any more, and I have also moved since then.
If I go and tell them it was an honest mistake will they go easy on me?
Dr. J, it doesn't say revoked but it does say suspend. That is why I am panicking.. Could they arrest you on the spot if I went to the DMV and told them I had forgotten to present proof of insurance for a year? I'm freezing up here...

Minnesota 2020 -- Minnesota Moves Forward and Backward on Road Safety
Conrad.defiebre@mn2020.org
Traffic accidents are a $164 billion-a-year drain on the U.S. economy, equal to more than $1,000 per person, according to a 2008 AAA report. Basically, there are three ways to reduce all this needless cost, suffering and 37,000 annual fatalities - better cars, better roads and, yes, better drivers.
Advances are afoot to improve all three. Unfortunately, sometimes it's one step forward and two steps back.
For example, Minnesota and many other states ban texting while driving, shown in a recent study to increase crash risk by a factor of 23. But most of these states, Minnesota included, also update drivers on road conditions via Twitter, the Associated...
