I ordered me a car called Smart Car from www.smartcar.com and can't find any insurance that will cover for one driver.

Yes...well at least at state farm we will. We insure anything pretty much.

Is getting into an accident with a more expensive car (Mercedes Benz or Ferrari) worse than getting into an accident with a cheaper car (Honda civic or toyota corolla) in terms of your insurance rate increasing? (given that you are at fault)

it depends what car is safer for the people inside the car. chances are the civic will crumble more than a 'stiffer' benz meaning that more damage is done to the civic and more people have medical bills. insurance agents look at the whole picture if a 16 year old does a total of 20k in damage (property damage and medical bills) and a 40 year old does 80k in damage chances are the 16 year olds rates will increase more, they have not 'proven' them selfs as drivers yet and now they look like a higher risk driving for one year and have already had an accidents vs driving for 20 years and has only had 1 accident in 7 years.

my car is 07 model. l was involve in an accident that was not my fault. The insurance want to fix the car instead of total loss, what should l do because l do not want the car to be repaired since it is a new car and they value of trade in will go down. l need your advice, thank you.

That is a problem. Make it known to your insurance company get them involved. The car has to be restored to its former condition or you will now accept it back from the body shop. DO NOT take the MB to a common body shop the at fault insurance company uses. Find out what body shop all the high end cars go to. And make sure the insurance company at fault provides a rent car of the same quality your used to. Not a Hyundai Elantra. I have seen very good repair and I have seen cars i would not want to drive come out of body shops.

So, I'm shopping for a new car and I can't decide between these 2. Of course there are other things to consider, reliability, insurance cost, etc.

But, I'm curious what your opinion is.

tempting_butnothanks - It's funny that you have nothing better to do than try to insult people on here. I'll point out a couple observations.

1. I looked at the last question you asked, "Do you tip at a Sonic burger joint?"

That's too funny, you're trying to put me down for considering my insurance and upkeep on a Porsche or Benz, and you're trying to decide to give a car hop a couple bucks?

And you're calling me broke?

My guess is you're 16-20 years old.

2. I did live in a mobile home when I was young... I was also homeless my last 2 years of high school.

After that, I put myself through college, started my first company when I was 19, was on the cover of Six Figure Income magazine when I was 22, and today (I'm 28) I travel the world (been around the globe 3 times so far this year), live in a Luxury high rise (there are several NBA and NFL players in my building), and....

I couldn't imagine eating at a Sonic!

PPS - I'm very aware of the upkeep costs, that's why I've driven exclusively Lexus for the last 5 years or so. It's the most reliable luxury car on the road. While I love them, I'm just a little bored of them.

PPPS - Just to drive the point home... I probably spend more on airfare in a couple months than you make in a year ;-)

As for everyone else, thanks for the feedback. This was really just out of curiosity from a conversation with a friend who drives a Porsche 911.

I wanted the Benz, primarily because it has a hard top convertible. The only other high end car that I know that has that would be the Lexus SC430... and I don't really like those.

The Porsche would have an optional hard top, but not retractable. I also considered the BMW 6 series convertible, but again... soft top.
And as for the age group I mentioned, again that came from the debate with my friend (and his girlfriend who is 26).

I have dated recently girls as young as 19 and as old as 36. Age doesn't really matter to me, but I'd say I'd prefer 22-28.

Both excellent cars, but it'd have to be the Porsche! In black.
