I was pulled over on Wednesday for turning right on red on my motorcycle without coming to a complete stop.
I have a Florida "Motorcycle Only" license that I got recently so I can ride when I'm here for school. I also have a Maryland driver's license just for cars.
Will this ticket add points to my Maryland driver's license or just to my Florida motorcycle license or both?
And will this ticket affect my Maryland auto insurance since it was on a motorcycle and it was with a Florida only license?
Sean B, I suggest you visit a nearby car insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Louisiana I can't suggest an agent in Maryland, but here is an resource that can help you. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Ins urance.html
Hope it works out

I'm just moving out of Virginia into Maryland and I am very overwhelmed by the high premiums that I will have to pay oppose to the lower premiums that I was paying for 2 cars in Virginia.
Does anyone know a good cheap car insurance company?
Thanks!
Maryland has VERY high rates, if you're looking for something to compare to the VA rates . . you're not going to FIND it. There are just more losses, more traffic, and more lawsuits, that's all there is to it.
Your best bet is to go to one or two independent agents, ask them to get you 4-5 quotes EACH, and compare that way. But they're ALL going to be in the same ball park.
I'm 16 in Maryland and I want to know how much car insurance would be for me. I just got my license.
The car is a Range Rover
BJ, I recommend you visit a local auto insurance agent to help. Since I live in Pennsylvania I can't suggest an agent in Maryland, but here is an resource that can help you. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Auto-I nsurance.html
I live in the DC area and I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of living in the Virginia or Maryland suburbs. I heard a rumor that if I move to Maryland, my insurance company will jack up the rates. Does that sound right? Why would the rates be higher just because I cross the state line?
Your insurance company is the only one that will know that...just ask them and tell them why you are asking ...they will help you. It is really very easy they just need both zip codes..
And yes it is very possible for rates to vary from state to state depending on the accid ratio for the area you live in....the insurance fraud they have and if they have alot of uninsured drivers that area....plus whether it is "the city" or the "country" makes a difference in rates also...less accidents in the country cause roads are not as congested, etc.
I would say location and driving history are 2 of the major factors when it comes to insurance....
Come on to Florida...your rates will triple...promise.:)
I spoke to a representative of the car insurance from California and she said that it was fine. And that she had many clients from all over the nation. Does anyone know more about this? Thanks!
Yes, most of them are Nationwide. They are set up with agents from all over the place and when you get quoted they'll find you a local agent next to you based on your zip code, these do it with all major insurers

Three People Injured in Single-vehicle Accident in Snow Hill ...
Auto accidents are tragic enough, but when passengers are injured due to the actions of the driver of the vehicle in which they are riding, that’s even more heartrending. Children especially should never be subjected to the life-threatening injuries of an avoidable single-car accident . As a Maryland personal injury and auto accident attorney, my firm handles cases not unlike the one reported in a recent news article.
According to an investigation by the Maryland State Police, a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan was headed southbound on Whitesburg Road near Oak Hill Road when it apparently went out of control. Police reason that the minivan driven by a Uyen Buu was traveling at an excessive speed -- deemed too fast for conditions -- and crossed the northbound lane of Whitesburg Road, then slid off the roadway and crashed into a tree in a nearby wooded area.
...Universal Coverage for…Car Insurance???
A few weeks ago, in the middle of the evening rush hour and during one of Washington, D.C.’s infamous summer rainstorms, I was side swiped. The fault was completely on the part of the driver that hit me. After this lovely woman insisted, while screaming at the top of her lungs, that the accident was my fault, we exchanged the necessary information. I looked down to the portion of the torn piece of paper where she had written her insurance information, and saw that she had listed a company called MAIF as her automobile insurer. I thought innocently,
When I got home I Googled “MAIF,” and was shocked at what came up. Turns out MAIF stands for the Maryland Auto Insurance Fund , which was, according to the Web site, “created by the Maryland State Legislature in 1972 for the purpose of providing automobile liability insurance for those residents of the State of Maryland who are unable to obtain it elsewhere in the private insurance market.” What does this mean? It means the state of Maryland has a government run and subsidized car insurance program for residents who have been priced out of the commercial auto insurance market. This usually happens due to drivers being involved in multiple car accidents, which causes insurance premiums to increase until they eventually become unaffordable. I’m not a resident of Maryland, and I’m a liberal who believes in big government, but I’d be pretty teed off if I knew that even one penny of my tax dollars was going directly or indirectly towards a program that seems to have been designed to help insure reckless drivers. I’m all for universal coverage when it comes to health insurance, but for car insurance - nope not on my dime.
