Hi my name is James. I am a college student and I am looking for a used car to get me through college and maybe Further! I am hoping to spend under $5000 Dollars. I need it to be able to have a lower insurance rate then lets say a sports car. I also need something thats has a very good fuel efficacy! I am a tall guy but can fit into any thing! So if any of you know of a car that looks almost good has good gas millage and is not too expensive on car insurance let me know! ASAP!!!!!! Oh and this car not one I want to buy online or privately. It is one I want to buy from a car dealer ship this is just to help me lock down my search!
I would say Honda Civic if you're in to hondas..or a chevy malibu if you're in to chevys...the malibu will be a little less expensive..but may be get a little less mileage to the gallon.

I am 18 going 19 this year, and i want to know how i can possibly make my insurance cheaper, legally.
I took my pass plus which is meant to cut the price down by a bit, but I've found most internet comparison websites don't ask if you have achieved pass plus, so would it be ideal to get a quote online THEN ring up and try knock the price down?
Also what else can i do to cut the cost down, legally?
The following are legal ways to reduce the premium. However some are counter-productive i.e. they may cost more than you save.
1) Buy an old low group car (you can get an idea of insurance groups from Parker's guide) e.g. a Renault Clio, old-type mini/ fiat panda/ ford fiesta.
2) Third party, fire & theft is probably the cheapest cover.
3) Consider a 'birthday' policy - some insurers will give a 6 or 8 month policy and then give a discount at renewal - this can be useful if your birthday is reasonably soon. You will have to stay with them at renewal because you won't have any valid no claims bonus but the year after you will probably be given a 2-year bonus.
4) With TPFT you probably can't increase the excess - you may be able to with some insurers.
5) You can improve the car security by installing a Thatcham I alarm/ immobiliser or a tracker - but these cost quite a bit of money.
6) It may be cheaper if you add a parent onto the policy - providing they have had no claims or convictions - always worth looking into.
7) Garage the vehicle at night and declare the fact to the insurance company
8) Declare you will only use the car for a few miles a year - if you do this you should stick to it so try and make an honest effort to be accurate.
9) There may still be a 'pay as you drive' scheme around. If you do join one make sure you drive during the day - late-night driving is expensive.

Hello,
Does anyone know where newly qualified drivers can take advantage of low insurance prices. I have tried a few of the price comparison sites, but find that the price of the insurance cover is more than the car.
If I purchased a car for about £800, how much should the insurance be. What is the cheapest way of buying it.
Is it better to Telephone a local Broker ?
Or online.
I will have to be checking the quotes, I will only check them if I havent already within the last 18 months usually.
Best answer - awaiting!
To be perfectly honest, I think for anyone under 25, cheap insurance isn't going to happen because of the volume of claims that drivers within that age group make. The best you can hope for is that the price comparison site or broker that you approach will find you the cheapest for your age group. It is perfectly normal for younger drivers with low value cars to end up paying more than the value of the car in insurance costs. Even if a car is low value and the insurer wouldn't have to pay out much if you wrote it off, the insurer has to bear in mind that someone with a low value car can do just as much damage to a third party car or property than a high value one, and if you knock a pedestrian down, they can still sue you for the same amount as they can sue someone with a high value car for, so in that sense, the value of the car isn't going to make so much difference.
I don't feel that a price comparison site or a broker will give you much of a different quote as they both compare many insurers so the price will be similar.
The only way you can really get it cheaper is to register the car in your parents name and then get them to insure it and put you on as an extra driver, but a lot of insurers are wising up to that and working out their rates so that it doesn't make much of a difference. You will also find that a lot of insurers don't give no claim discount to named drivers, so if you do it that way, when you do eventually come to taking out insurance in your own name, you will more than likely start from scratch with no no claims discount, and still pay a fortune.
It's difficult, and it will seem that you are being penalised for your age, but when you see it from the insurers point of view, you would understand. I have worked in insurance for 25 years and ever since I started, we have made a loss on under 25 year old drivers. The only reason we insure them at all is that if we refuse them, chances are that their family will also take their business away from us.
Im 19 years old and I have had my license for about a year. I have no speeding tickets and have never been in a wreck. My driving record is picture perfect. I have been driving my moms car and she has had me under her insurance so it was really cheap. But Im getting ready to buy an 06' Chevy Colbat and where I'm buying it off a car lot, she can't afford to put me under her name on insurance, becuase I will have to get full coverage as where as before I had liability. Is there a place in WV or somewhere online that offers reasonable prices on full coverage insurance for someone of my age. My mom is telling me my insurance is going to be about as much as my car payment. Is there any way to get it lower? I need a less expensive place for insurance. Thnks.
Untrin Direct is the best choice I would say, My mom, dad fiance and I all have it and we got very low prices on it. Me and my fiance are 21 and we are financing 2 vehicles with full coverage. I have had like 3 tickets the past three years and he's had 2 and my mom also had one and we still got really good prices. Monthly I pay about $110 and they pay a little less than me. You have a better driving record than us but you are a little younger so it might be around what I'm paying. If you decide to get a quote from them, go through a third party not directly through their site. For some reason they charge you higher. The site is a good website I think you might be able to get a good deal with them, they also have other companies that might even be cheaper. Once you enter your info it will give you quotes from different companies
I've had good results here...

Good Luck.
The Progressive claims agent just called me and offered 900 minus deductible for my '91 chevy blazer. The car was in good condition though it had 330000 miles (when I bought it I was told it had a new motor) I have comprehensive insurance and was under the impressive that I would be covered and would be able to "replace" the vehicle. However my agent said my car was not replaceable because of the mileage. What can I do? I have looked online for '91 chevy blazers and also checked NADA price guidelines which ranged from 1400 to 2700. Please help!
I went to NADA and low was 1400, also I have looked for the same year and have found they are asking 1500-2000, on average- Anymore suggestions also I looked on kbb.com and private party low was 1200 w/ mileage factored in- plus I was told they don't even use these books- still searching for an answer- any insider tips???? we're a struggling middle or less family w/ only one car, and it's salvaged! I need to get the best offer from them, so it can be simply replaced!
FYI I did go over my findings with the agent, but it seemed to not make a difference, should I go to a supervisor and show comps???
The first problem you have is your carrier. TV commercials are not always real life. Unfortunately, cheapest is not always the best deal.
The policy pays actual cash value and unfortunately, too many companies like to low ball the offer and hope you take your money and go away. You need to find proof that your car is worth more and get it to your claims adjuster to argue your case.
Advice on Getting Low Cost Car Insurance Quotes Online « Auto ...
Finding a car insurance policy you can afford is just being responsible, especially in today’s trend of recession. An ideal way to do this is by online comparison shopping. There are a lot of websites that provide low cost car insurance quotes that will help you in comparing insurance rates against your budget.
The first thing that you would need to do is look for a website that can give out multiple quotations at one time. This will let you view more price quotes and deals in just a minimum amount of time. At the very least, try and get low cost car insurance quotes from three websites. This allows you to cover a wide area. Doing it this way, means there will be a lesser chance of missing a company offering deals and rates that meet your budget and needs. Just be sure to provide all the information required by these sites, including the price range within your reach.

There are a couple of important things you have to do if you are looking for low cost car insurance . It is a good idea to search online for quotes and find out the incentives insurance firms grant to selected drivers.
Let us take a look at the incentives first. The following drivers are favored by insurance companies.
Women drivers. They are found to be careful drivers and are less likely to get involved in accidents than men. Their premiums are generally lower than men drivers. Good students. They are regarded as responsible persons, and since responsible persons do not drive recklessly, they get the same treatment as women drivers. Drivers who live in a suburban community...News
