5 years driving a company car, now need get my own insurance..
Both above answers are wrong. Some insurance companies will consider the time spent on other policies towards no claims discount, especially if you drove a company car which was assigned to you and specifically insured for use by you.
Other insurance companies allow named drivers on policies to accrue their own no claims too. See this link for confirmation:

Go into your local Swinton Insurance office and explain your circumstances, they'll verify what I have said above.
Hope this helps

i asked this question already, but don't think i was specific enough, i am fully insured on a golf, which my boyfriend drove, beleiving he was insured under his company insurance as third party, since he drives dozens of cars at work.(and at a similar company he worked for last year it did cover him) however when he asked for the insurance policy from work he was informed it only covered the work fleet cars. it was a stupid but honest mistake, will he lose his licence?
You have insurance on your vehicle & that extends to anyone you allow to drive it. The insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver. So, all your boyfriend has to do is to take YOUR insurance ID card with him to court to prove the car was insured & that is all he has to do. The ID card shows the dates of the insurance (whether 6 months or a year). If your policy has renewed since the ticket, be sure to have him take the one that covers the date he got the ticket. The court should dismiss the no insurance ticket. He will still get the speeding ticket I am sure. If you lost your ID card, just call your insurance agent or company & they will give you another.
If your boyfriend is a member of your household and does not have his own vehicle, he should be added as a driver on your policy. If he is not a member of your household he doesn't need to be added as a driver (unless he drives it a lot), best to check with your insurance if he needs to be added as a secondary or occasional driver.
His company insurance has nothing to do with this.
Many executives will save an organizations money by not having auto insurance on the fleet of company vehicles, whereas, in their personal finances, they will carry insurance on their family car. Take something from your experience that illustrates the difference in attitude from the point of view for an individual to an organization. Explain why the organization attitude toward risk is different from the individual attitude.
The point of insurance is to spread out risk to mitigate a loss that would pose a substantial burden. For a corporation, an entire fleet of vehicles averages out the risk, whereas for the individual there is a great amount of uncertainty in driving only one or two cars. Also, corporations have a much different definition of what a loss that is a substantial burden- for the individual, a wreck that does 25,000 in damage would be hard to swallow, but any company with a fleet probables does millions per year in sales.
For the record, I highly discourage a business from taking such a strategy, but don't feel like going into all the detail.

is there anything out there like a fleet insurance or something? Can you give me the companies names? i am in the uk
Since I am assuming these are your personal autos -- you will most likely be offered a Multi-Car or Multi-Vehicle Discount on your Personal Auto Insurance.
The Fleet Discounts or Insurance are for Commercial Companies -- like Car Rental Companies or Trucking Companies. This is not for the average person who may own more than one vehicle.
I was needing a quote on each car? the entire fleet? Just need some kind of Idea to see if it is worth even trying to open a rental Co. I'am already in the repair buisness just thought it would be nice to offer rental when a customer doesn't have a car to drive.
Just contact the agent that has your coverage on your car repair business.....he should be able to find you a "garage liability" policy that will cover ALL of your activities. It will be a LOT less expensive to have the fleet insured versus each individual car.
Good luck and I hope this helps

New protection against end-of-lease charges | Fleet News
With bills for repair work on ex-lease cars accelerating rapidly, FMG’s Leasecare scheme comes at a perfect time. The company has been working on it for the past couple of years in conjunction with Risk Transfer Insurance Management.
Stefan Rodgers, FMG marketing director, said fleet customers were keen to mitigate the cost of end-of-lease charges, typically for items like alloy wheel refurbishment, upholstery rips and tears and bodywork scratches.
“They are looking for a way to fix the cost of the vehicle over its lifetime,” Rodgers said. “Leasecare makes sure they don’t get hit with an unknown charge at the end of the lease.”
...Fleet Insurance – What is the Difference? | Business and Insurance
Fleet insurance is formulated to provide mandatory road risk coverage to a wide array of vehicles ranging from cars, buses, taxis to coaches, lorries, transit vans and agricultural vehicles. A fleet insurance policy enables an individual or a company to insure a number of vehicles of any categories under one single policy.
A fleet insurance policy generally only provides road risk insurance. This policy can be of two types, namely, Third Party Fire And Theft and Comprehensive Coverage. Breakdown insurance is generally the only optional extra available in case of a fleet insurance policy.
