Yes a lot of insurance companies are doing it to 'save the planet'. Think they call them paperless policies and the Post Office do accept them for tax discs

It seems as if my Insurance agency (Direct Line Insurance) can't seem to understand a claim/report that I've given them (six times). I have told them what happened to my car and they keep getting their story wrong, even after sometimes the people I talk to say "oh now I see what you're saying", I still get phone calls and letters claiming some other version that I've told them (which I didn't)
Can I report these to Trading Standards?
yes you can but im not sure how they will help you that way why dont you just send them a letter explaining your version instead of tellin them on the phone
Basically I bought a direct line car insurance (UK) They never asked about Modifications etc... Although i have changed the bumpers on the car and tinted windows with alloy wheels.
Some sites are saying i dont have to tell them as they are covered in my policy.
Advice please.
You dont understand what i mean.
When i signed up online for the policy they never asked about my modifications.
Can someone goto directline.com and check the policy summary. I cant understand it but i think its saying im allowed modifications but they will only cover a certain limit eg £1000
Thanks
Im only 17 btw my premium is £2800
Adding mods will rise so much.
the best thing to do is to tell them of the changes anyway. if they don't need to know about them then it doesn't matter, but if you needed to tell them about the changes and don't, then they can refuse to cover them.
good luck xx
EDIT - if you don't add the modifications and they require them then they may void your policy under grounds of misrepresentation/fraud and you may never get insured for anything again. the premium may go up another couple of Hundred pounds, but not declaring them could cost allot more in the long run
just wondered if i need to inform my insurance company (direct line) as i plan on getting another job
you do not have to inform them as long as you can pay it on the due date they dont care where you work or if you work as long as you pay your insurance the same goes with leasing a car

Direct Line Insurance and Back yard Mechanics - Beware - MBClub UK ...
It seems he had the car parked outside on a bend near the kerd, with the steering at full tilt facing outwards. Someone had driven past and hit the front drivers side tyre protruding out. He had jacked the car and said that what seemed damaged was the track rod on the drivers side. This wasnt much and if I picked up the part from Eurocarparts, he would replace it free of charge. The result of this accident was that when the car was driven in a straight line, it moved heavily to the right. I rang Direct Line in disbelief stating that how could the engineer have given an opinion without running a steering geometry test. They stated that they were going along with the conclusion of the Engineer...
