Cis Car Insurance

I'm interested to hear what experiences people have had with CIS, especially for car insurance.

My partner recently wrote off his car and, on top of the hassle of the accident, has had nothing but continual problems with CIS - from files and paperwork going missing, to misinformation given to the police, to (believe it or not) the garage actually losing track of the car wreckage and the keys for it. One month on from the accident, and we're no further forward.

I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience, or are we just unbelievably unlucky?!
shygirl - it was actually the best priced policy on the market at the time the car was insured. What Im wondering now is - is this a case of getting what you pay for...

CIS are very good when your after cheap insurance but when it comes for them to pay out they do take there time about it. My sister in law had her car stolen the police found it a couple of weeks later then it took CIS over four months to out and then it wasn't the amount the car was worth hope you do better with them

Recently my car was broken into and the satnav and cd player stolen,I claimed on the insurance for the loss "side window smached,satnav and cd player" the battery had drained and i couldnt move the car and someone from my insurance company towed it to there garage.Well days later I didnt hear anything so I phoned up and said whats going on,garage said they was waiting for someone from my insurance company cis to inspect the car as it could be a total loss."totall loss I said" the car was fine,he said oh the door needs replaceing,well I know theres nothing wrong with the door and sure enough that day the cis inspector phoned and said the car was a total loss because the car is old "96 escort 16. ghia p reg" and it wouldnt be worth it.I said I dont think so ill take it to a mechanic I know and get it fixed.So at the moment Im waiting to phone the car insurance that department isnt there till monday to cancel the claim.

I then phoned the man at the garage and let him know i was going to cancel the claim incase they did anything to the car.He said oh right ok well Im going to need to find out whos going to pay for the work we have already done.Im not sure what work hes on about as he shouldnt have started work on the car until the insurance company aproved to pay for anything.Im now worried that if i cancel im going to have to pay for the car tow to the garage and the cost for them to inspect the car.

I've just decided to restart my lessons after 4 months of being away from them - last failed my test by one minor at the very end of the test was absolutely gutted. I am just about to turn 18 years old and am looking for insurance on my dads Suzuki Baleno. The cheapest I have found so far is £446.60 for fully comp per year with CIS Insurance which I know would be considered cheap, but is there any cheaper?

The only way insurers can offer 'cheap' insurance is by reducing the level and quality of cover. Sadly this sometimes results in claims which appear to be perfectly valid being declined owing to the small print. Less payouts = more profits = lower premiums.
I have been with CIS for about 40 years. I haven't claimed a lot but when I have they have been excellent and dealt quickly with the matter. Also you can talk to them on the phone, which is answered promptly. Try that with a cheapie firm, you'll be lucky to get through (unless it's the sales line).
Stick with CIS you can't go wrong.
