is double that of the quotes I got online (from brokers). Is it better to go with State Farm or one of the cut rate insurance companies?
I mean in the event of an accident and getting paid.
I also rent a lot of cars and will be using the insurance I buy for those. And, not get the insurance that the rental companies over charge for.
I would go with State Farm. But I am biased because I work there.
Ask for as many discounts as you can like, multi-car, multi-line, good driver, if your young for a new driver then ask for driver safety, and any other they offer. Ask how you can get them.
And, if those cut rate companies offer low payments do they ask for a broker fee or a higher down payment? Sometimes you do get what you pay for. But remember, there is good and bad in every company but overall they are much better.
And, if you rent cars a lot then ask the agent to add UNOC. Unlimited Non-Owned Car coverage. Some are not familar with it but otherwise your coverage only carries over to a rental car for 21 days at one time.

How much do you think it would (guesstimate) cost to purchase car insurance from state farm, as a 21 year old, who wants to purchase a new 2009 toyota yaris?
I don't want to get a quote online because I dont want to give my personal information out just yet.
Does anyone know of any good car insurance companies for cheap for someone under 25?
I guess it'll cost you about $300 especially as you'll want comprehensive cover on it? But it might be less, depending on where you live.

I'm a student so I can pay the 3k insurance a year for living in LA but I'm worried if something happens then state farm won't cover me. I got a couple of parking tickets and they sent some letters asking where my car is located. So what should I do because everyone is quoting me some high price. I do live in LA but I can't move because of school. I also can't get lower insurance because I'm financing and its a new car.
I'm sorry after I read the question I did have a little correction...I can't afford 3k and that is really my big problem. I pay about 700 in NC but I don't want to pay the same amount as my car payments in insurance. I just don't think it makes any sense at all. I don't know since I'm turning 25 will help and with all my tickets dropping in July....any more help would be appreciated....thanks again
I live in hollywood so would another address on the outskirts help me. Just an idea because in the end I'd have to get rid of the car to pay the insurance.....
Insurance doesn't randomly drop, because you move.
Call them, and tell them where you live, and update your insurance.
It's not hard.
I just got a car insurance quote and with state farm they send it off and i sure hear by friday if everything checks out. My BF dad is the agent and i don't like the fact he could have access to my personal information such as credit. On their site they say they do not but researching online i have seen other things. So do State Farm agents see my credit?
If they have an eternal system will the agent have an idea what my credit is?
I did not sign anything. Everything was done over the phone, actually through my BF he called his dad and they sent the quote off I did not sign anything. I did see online you have to check something, but this was not done online.
Not exactly. Even a year or two, the agent would see your credit SCORE. It's a number. They don't get to see the actual credit report, but if the score was 700, it's good, if it's 200, it's tanked.
But due to privacy laws and liability issues, companies stopped letting agents see this - they get the score internally, and then tell the agent (through a computer program) which rates you qualify for. Of course, if you qualify for the best rates, the agent knows you have good credit. If you don't qualify at all due to credit, the agent knows you have bad credit.
So no, the agent NEVER saw the actual credit report, and now the agent can't see the actual score, but based on the rating tier, will have a general idea about your credit.
They don't need to give you anything in writing, unless you request it - they only need to give you a verbal sentence, "we're checking records including mvr's & credit for rating tier & eligibility". And, of course, you gave them your date of birth & social, which they need to run the check.
Hope that helps.
