Car Insurance Minnesota Quote

I just recently bought an 89 thunderbird and i need to get the minnesota state minimum liabiltity insurance but every agency i got a quote from was over 200. This is a little ridiculous concidering i payed 375 for the car! I am trying to find an agency that can give me a rate of maybe 100 a month. Someone help!!!

I live near the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and have a 3.2 G.P.A and would be driving a 1996 4WD Chevrolet Blazer....we got a quote threw Progressive and they said it would be like $400 dollars a month just for no fault there must be some company out there thats cheaper.....Also........Would it be cheaper to go on my dad's insurance....or am i better off having my dad insure me through a different car insurace company. Because he doesnt want his insurance to drop him because if i get in an accident the rates would go way up and he also has other kinds of insurance through that company like home owners insurance and things like that........ -thank you-

you're probably going to save money if you go on your dad's insurance--BUT it depends on who's name the vehicle is in. If it's in your name you have to get your own policy. If you keep the same company your dad has, you should get a pretty good multi-car/multi-policy discount. You should also qualify for a good student discount since your GPA is over 3.0. If you're on your own policy through the same company, they shouldn't drop your dad or raise his rates if you get into an accident. You should be surcharged on your own policy. $400 seems steep, but I work for an insurance company in OH, not MN so I don't know how the rates change. I would definitely shop around though and make sure you carry the same liability limits your father has.
