What happens when fail to pay Car Insurance premium? Details Inside.?

Hello Friends,
I know that failure to pay car insurance will lead to termination. What I basically want is to cancel the insurance, because I plan not to drive that car for few months to save on Insurance premium. My first question is do they allow termination for such reasons? and in case they don't allow that what would happen if I simply stop paying premium? But remember that I plan not to drive it for few months, so why I need insurance after all. What is the immediate consequence and what is the effect when I would like to drive that car again and want an insurance then? If it is of any relevance, my car is of New York. Please answer me.
Thank you

You should call the insurance company and get the coverage changed for the period you won't be driving. Unless it's an old beater, you should still get coverage for fire and theft. People do this all the time for seasonal cars - like convertibles they don't drive in the winter.

Don't just let the insurance lapse, that could affect your credit rating.

How do you try to buy or bid on totaled vehicles by car insurance companies?

I’m interested in trying to find a vehicle like mine, but wrecked with a good engine and transmission and any other parts I can salvage to keep mine alive for a few more years . I would like to know in general how to search and bid on wrecked vehicles that have been totaled by insurance companies and are now up for bid. This would be kind of like what a wrecking yard must do to purchase vehicles for parts resale, or a used car dealer that would in turn repair the vehicle and resell with salvage title. Any leads on where to start would be appreciated

Ask your insurance agent. He should be able to tell you what they do with the totaled cars. A lot of the time they have salvage yards take them or auction them off at a local auction. Good luck and hope you find one.

I need cheap car insurance in New York City?

I need cheap (FULL) coverage for a financed vehicle in the NEw York Area...I've tried the popular sites...any leads?

The insurance company will look at your level of education, your income level, your occupation, and the zip code where you garage the vehicle regularly.

They will also ask about the daily miles, one way, that you commute, and the annual mileage you put on the vehicle.

Caller A answers she is a high school dropout making $18,000 a year working in a burger joint., She garages her car in the highest crime area of the city, and drives 100 miles each way every day. Her annual mileage is 45,000 miles.

Caller A is quoted $1256/year.

Caller B answers she is a college graduate making $78,000 a year working in a university library., She garages her car in the lowest crime area of the city, and drives 10 miles each way every day. Her annual mileage is 7,500 miles.

Caller B is quoted $350/year.

Of course, I'm not encouraging you to embellish...

Should car insurance be mandatory?

Auto insurance should never be mandatory. Of course you may say "What if you get into an accident"? Without car insurance, families can save that extra money in case of an emergency. If a person gets into a 2 car accidents through no fault of his own, the insurance rates will skyrocket. In any case, you will usually pay more for insurance than you would have paid to have your car fixed at an auto shop.

This policy also unfairly discriminates against the working poor, many of which are one pull over away from being arrested or having their licenses revoked. If a person with a revoked license has no other means of transportation, it may lead to unemployment thus costing us all. This would keep them in the vicious cycle of poverty and deprive them of their dignity as adults. This is why we should abolish laws requiring car owners to have insurance.
Who should pay? His wages should be garnished for the rest of his life and the taxpayers should foot the rest of the bill. Abolishing these laws would also force the courts not to accept frivolous lawsuits involving auto accidents.
As for doctor visits, that's what HEALTH INSURANCE is for
Connor's mommy, if car insurance wasn't mandatory we would be able to save money in case an accident does occur. If you want compensation from an uninsured driver, his wages should be garnished until his debt is paid.
If someone is seriously injured HEALTH insurance should pay for that. I don't believe in frivolous law suits. Unless the accident was moderately or severely detrimental to the driver, there should be no law suit.
I have a friend who has to pay $400 a month in insurance for ONE CAR. That's $4,800 a year!
The wages garnished would cost the same as the insurance they would have been paying.
Connor's Mommy, some people have BARELY enough to get by. These people are UNABLE to save. Open your eyes and stop looking at things from a sheltered suburban perspective.

I disagree completely.
Auto insurance for most people does not protect you, so much as it does others.

Those working poor you mentioned?
When they are sued successfully in court (as often happens), and now THEY have to come up with the cash to satisfy a multi-thousand dollar judgment, where is the dignity insurance robbed them of?

And if someone is seriously injured, who pays for that?
And what of moral and ethical responsibility?
How can someone say that they have dignity, if they refuse to accept thier adult responsibilities to society?

I am not unsympathetic to people who have little money - I am among them. However, if you drive, you have to be able to satisfy your obligations, just as you would in any other circumstance.

A garnishment of a minimum/low- wage worker would literally place them in debt for life. How does that provide anyone dignity?

You are also missing one important point:
People who PAY insurance bear the costs of those that DON'T.

Car Insurance – How To Smother Your Prospects and Kill Your Leads ...

What strikes you when you look at the form? What strikes me very quickly is that the AA expects me to invest a lot of time, and a whole lot of commitment, without indicating my benefit from this transaction. The progress indicator tells me I wont see a quote until Step 4, and I’m getting very cold feet at step 1.

Here’s where the negative point of action assurance really kills the deal. My mind turns back to that challenge – Please accept the data protection & privacy policy before getting a quote – which invokes negative apprehensions about my privacy. I’m no longer even considering whether the quote will be good or not. My...
