Car Insurance In Uk Quote Online

I have been trying to get car insurance quotes online but I dont understand what the above terms mean

Also if my road tax (UK) is not due for renewal till thursday can i buy it today? Will they adjust the date for me.

Premiums: What you pay for the insurance.

Legal fees: Insurance companies will pay your legal fees if you are sued over an accident. Some policies may offer extra cover for other legal fees, such as defending a traffic citation by the police.

Voluntary Excess: Amount of damages you pay out-of-pocket. For example, if you have £500 Voluntary Excess and are involved in an accident, you pay the first £500 and the insurance company picks up the tab at that point. The higher your VE, the lower your premiums.

Road tax always expires on the last day of the month. You can renew any time during the month. If you do it by mail or on line, you'd best do it TODAY or you may not have it by Friday when you MUST display the new disc. You can renew at any Post Office and they'll issue the new disc on the spot. The new disc will expire one year from the expiry of the old one, or 31.07.2009 in your case if you get a 12 month disc.

I am considering to buy a car before I pass my test. Without buying the car first I can't get a quote online.
I understand insurance is not much differenet for a learner driver and someone that just passed their test.
Anyone knows how much roughly insurance cost for a learner driver? Thinking of getting a 2002-2003 ford focus, and I am a female 27 years of age if that makes any difference.

I'm 16 and will soon begin driving lessons, and every company I go to online to find a quote asks for my name and address, and until I need the insurance i'm not going to enter them.

Does anyone have an idea how much a 17 year old would expect to insure a first car (something small like a Vauxhall Corso, Renault Clio et al)?

If you want an accurate quote then you'll need to enter an address I'm affraid.

The quote will take the postcode into account and this can impact the premium significantly.

You could always enter some details close to yours but not exact. Some companies will hound you as soon as you get a quote, especially off the price comparison websites.

I agree with the set aside a day for quotes. The price comparison websites make it a bit easier, but not all companies are listed on them and any quote given needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as whenever I've used them the premium has gone up when I finalise the quote for some aspect that the price comparison website doesn't take into account.

Some of the best companies aren't listed so you need to go to them directly.

I'd imagine £1000 to £1500 a year for a standard Clio or Corsa with say a 1.0 or 1.2 engine.

Higher spec or any modifications would put the price up significantly.

I'm 19 and was wondering which is the best company to get car insurance from and the best way of getting it the cheapest.?

Me and my dad are not quite sure of the tricks used to get the best deal, so i would appreciate it if you could help.?

A few of my friends get their insurance dirt cheap because they are named drivers on their parent's car - but when i try to get a quote online it still charges me over £1500.

My insurance is up for renewal with Churchill, Churchill online price is slightly cheaper than my renewal quote from them

As your policy is up for renewal you can go where ever you want. The online discount is because of the lack of admin they have to do. Make sure cover is like for like.

I would be upset they hadn't offered you the lower terms but as I said lack of admin.

You will be fine to stay with them. They should be more than happy to keep your custom.
