If i am 16 how much (average) would my first year of car insurance in New York cost if i get an 8 cylinder 5 speed car?
Hello new driver :)
If you are a young driver attempting to find cheap and affordable car insurance you are probably already aware of the challenge that lies ahead. The statistics about teenage drivers aren’t good. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 16-year-olds get into accidents almost six times more often than drivers between the age of 30 and 59. No wonder car insurance premiums are so high for this age group. It has always been difficult if you are aged between of 16 - 25 to insure your car affordably, and although car insurance companies are beginning to recognize the need to supply this ever expanding market, it can still prove to be hard to find a reasonably priced car insurance premium.
For instance, young drivers will often own older or less maintained vehicle compared to other drivers, which means they are more likely to break down and potentially cause an accident. Teenage drivers are also more likely to have accidents which can either injure themselves or the other party.
However, parents should be aware if the fact that there are several ways that can help lower car insurance costs for your teen. In order for teen drivers and car insurance to work well together, parents need to know the factors that will help contribute to paying less for their son or daughter’s auto insurance in the future.
The first thing that insurance providers look into when giving a car insurance quote is the driving record of the person. Teenagers that have a good driving record may merit consideration. What that means is that you can help keep your teen focused on safe driving by having him or her pay a portion of the auto insurance premium. Also, be sure to let your teen know the consequences of getting traffic tickets.
Before you purchase your car it is also worth researching which insurance group it will fall in, so that you can ensure you will be able to get the cheapest possible insurance.
Finally, by using Insurance4lessdirect.com you can rest assured that we will strive to find you the cheapest car insurance premium that will provide you and your teenager with the best cover.
Did you know: If you’re adding your teen driver to your auto insurance policy, be sure to take advantage of the auto insurance discount for good students, available in many states.

Will I get a ticket or get my licensed suspended if I don't have I don't have car insurance?
In New York State the answer is 110% yes. They are one of the best at enforcing mandatory insurance. A friend some years ago simply mailed in his payment late and his insurance lapsed for 24 hours. Since he did not surrender his tags prior to the insurance lapse as I remember it he got a heavy fine and a 30 day license suspension even though he had insurance the next day.

Ok. I am seventeen years old and i want to get my drivers liscense but my parents wont let me because they wont pay for my car insurance. Does anyone know the laws for underage drivers for car insurance? I would be driving one of their cars and i wouldnt have one of my own. If you can site a source, it'd be great cause then i could show it to them. thanks.
Yeah, the law is you can't drive in NY state without insurance. As soon as you get your license, you will be added to your parents insurance policy. Only your agent can tell you how much it will cost to do that, but it will be high. If you try to get your own policy it will be even higher.
Particularly NYC?

Before we get into an in-depth discussion about New York car insurance, let me clear something up really quick. There's a LOT more to driving in New York than trying to deal with the nightmare that is the New York City streets. Believe it or not, reputation aside New York State is almost entirely cow country! If you're new to the New York highways, however, the prospect of a no-fault system is probably a little mind boggling. ...On Talk Shows, Obama Defends Health Care Agenda - Prescriptions ...
President Obama made five appearances on the Sunday morning talk shows, with the proposed health care overhaul emphasized on all of them. The New York Times’s Jeff Zeleny writes: “The president, appearing in interviews on five television networks, said the health care fight had been more difficult than he anticipated and conceded that he has struggled ‘breaking through.’ He said he remained confident he would sign a health care bill into law and welcomed Republicans to the effort, but added, ‘I don’t count on them.’ ”
President Obama comes across as a nice guy, and I believe him when he says he’s been “humbled” [by the foot-deep corruption in Washington]. But we need the Obama who just dropped the axe on Governor Paterson. We need Senator Ben Nelson to wake up and read in the Sunday paper that the President wants him to cook or get out of the kitchen.
