Im looking to get cheap classic auto insurance. for a car thats more than 25 years old. Its going to be a show car, and rarely be driven.
Liability only.
I live in NY, so company must be available in NY, and be cheap.
Thanks.
Classic & antique auto insurance is always full coverage (based on the current value) & always very cheap. You will need a full time use vehicle for every driver in your household & the vehicle must not be driven more than 1500 miles per yr, mostly for shows, etc.
Try a local independent agent & see if they write with Condon & Skelly. They are my favorite for antique auto insurance.
Other companies (brokers actually) would be JCTaylor & Hagerty.
Heacock Insurance
I'm 25yrs old and I have two classic cars: a 1973 VW Beetle and a 1976 VW Campmobile(aka "hippie van"). Both of them were taken off the road for about a year but now that summer's approaching, I'm getting them reinsured and reregistered. A lot of people keep telling me to get antique car tags, because then I won't have to put up with the hassle of paying for inspection each year and other fees. I've also heard that classic car insurance is very cheap -- only a few hundred a year for full(liability, comprehensive, collision) coverage.
Last year, I had my cars on a regular insurance policy and I paid $12/mo for the Campmobile and $36/mo for the Beetle(The campmobile was cheaper because it qualified for the multicar discount). This was for state min coverage--liability only. Do you think classic car insurance would save me much money?
Also--how hard is it to get approved for classic tags, and how long does it typically take? I understand I need to send in pictures. Advice?
the 65-72 where the clasic hippie vans and i think a vehicle has to 50 to be an antique. as to which one, whatever that makes it look better don't know how long it takes, take care of them and liability would be the cheapest.
Caring for Your Antique Car's Interior | Most Expensive Cars in ...
The truth about antique cars is that they can be a little more temperamental than present day cars. After all, the cars that most people drive around in every day can mostly trace their ancestry back to some of the classics that survive to this day. The changes that have been made to those old cars have made the cars of today what they are, so it should not come as any surprise, or as any annoyance to us that they may perform differently and have specific requirements. After all, what we know today is a lot more than what we knew yesterday – repeat that for a few decades and you will see why a classic car requires more work inside and out than a new one – and why it is worth it.
...Cleaning Classic Car Interior | Most Expensive Cars in the World
Antique car care is not something to be taken lightly. These fine classic automobiles require a substantial amount of special care in order to retain their worth and appearance. There are certain requirements involved with caring for a classic car, such as the necessity to clean it with specific materials. It is important to know how to properly clean your old car. The interior can be especially delicate, especially if it is original. Maintaining the inside of the car will take time and a meticulous approach. It does not necessarily need the touch of a professional in order to be done right but you need to know what you are doing.
Most classic cars are not driven on a regular basis. They tend to be stored somewhere safe until it is time to bring them out for an occasion. Plan to detail the interior of your car regularly. Every few months is usually a safe time frame. If you allow it to sit too long with dust build up and lack of fresh air circulating inside, it can quickly diminish the cleanliness of your car. Neglect will be the first thing to turn your classic beauty into old trash. Do not make the mistake of allowing that to happen. Maintaining one of these cars requires serious commitment.
