How come american family insurance just gave me a quote on my car insurance half of what i pay now?

so right now i have Farmers. How can american family insurance charge me more than half of what i am paying now? Is there a scam? and they told me that i can call my agent from Farmers and drop them right now and they have to pay me back what i have already paid in advanced. Is that true?

Yes they will pay you back, However (I was insurance agent ) it is kinda a scam the quote you got is not a guarantee until it goes threw underwriting there is NO way for the agent to tell you what your premium will be that is up to the underwriters. Its only a quote based on you credit score however that is only 1 facter underwriters take into consideration and of course once you drop farmers they kinda have you as I am sure he had you sign an commitment of some kind, however that is not legally binding you still have the right to go threw someone else for insurance however if you don't go with them and you let them cancel your Farmers insurance than you will be without until you find someone else. ITs best to wait and see what he comes back with after underwriting and cancel your own insurance after that.

What type of car insurance is needed to protect against weather damage?

I have full coverage through American Family Insurance. Will this cover weather damage, such as a crack windsheaild due to hail, or will i have to purchase something extra? What insurance company would you recommend that doesa good job at covering weather damage? And how does one prove the damage was weather related?

Most of the time with major insurance companys full coverage you will have weather damage covered. Most of the time if you show them the damage they will cover it. what you need to watch out for is teh deductible. If a windshield gets cracked and costs $500 and your deductible is $400 its not realy worth the claim becasue then you insurance will most likly go up. In terms of hail damage i have seeen people actually save a piece of hail in there freezer to show the insurance agent. The best thing that you can do is to ask your insurance agent what all is covered and make sure it covers all that you want. I have allstate insurance and i have had very good luck with the, but american family is another very good company.

Is American Family Insurance a good insurance company?

Currently I have State Farm on my car and EMC on my house. I found out I would save money if I switched both insurances to American Family Insurance. I was wondering if this would be a good choice?

Buying insurance shouldn’t be based upon price alone, and you are smart to inquire about the company you are thinking of switching to. Because you are purchasing an intangible product think about what you expect to receive from the company, as well as, the agent. I tell all of my new clients that I may not be the right agent for them, and when they ask why, I tell them because I will make sure they have the protection they need, and not just sell them the lowest rate just to make a sale. I will walk away before I will put my agency’s integrity, the company I represent, or myself on the line.
Things to look for when choosing a company may be: How do they handle claims, What type of “after” hours service do they offer, Are they “Web” friendly, Are the policies easy to read and understand, Is the billing easy to understand, Are the 1-800 numbers answered promptly and is the CSR’s friendly and knowledgeable?
When choosing an agent you might want to think about the agency location to your job or home, Is She/He friendly and knowledgeable about their products, Is the staff in the office friendly and professional, Are you able to reach your agent when needed or get a return phone call within a reasonable amount of time, Does the agent schedule yearly reviews with their clients, Does the agent have an ongoing communication with their clients ie calendars, newsletters, customer appreciation days, seminars, Is the agent active in their community.
These are just some thoughts; I wanted to throw out there. Good luck and by the way American Family is a good solid company, but you may want to call your current agent and let them know you are looking to lower your rates and see what they have to offer.

I am interested in opening an American Family Insurance agency with little or no experience.Any suggestions?

I just left the car business after 16 years as a Sales Manager and want to try my hand at an agency..I have a good friend of 15 years who is an agent and he loves it.I want to hear pros and cons from any and all who are willing to offer advice. Comments, suggestions, anything that could help me with a descision would be greatly appreciated. This would take place in Columbus, ohio. Thanks in advance

If being an agent means that you are an independent business man then be careful.
Going into business for yourself is the way to go but it is also an extremely hard start.
First check on competition in the area, your friend will be one of them. Try to figure out how many customers you will be able to get and what you can make from them. Take 1/2 of everything and throw it to the Government for taxes. Then the other half to the business. Then you have to gain that extra clients so you can get a dollar for yourself to eat dinner.
Besides the taxes and overhead there is insurance to maintain. Anyone comes to your business, walks through your door and falls = law suit.
Any one that takes any type of advice from you and it goes wrong = Law suit
Any one doing any type of work for you (shovel snow) and gets hurt = Law suit.

This is just the beginning, your NEVER your own boss, every customer that you deal with is your real Boss. They are the ones hiring you for that bit of time and paying you to work for them.

Hope this helps with the perspective part.

who do i make a complaint to about the service i get from american family ins. in missiouri?

i brought a new car and had ins . with american family ins.this ins was paid .it took almost a month for the payment of ins. to reach my bank that financed my car .and the bank sent me two letters saying i had no ins. someone was not doing their job.by not notifitying my bank that i had ins ..this is disgusting. the bank said that they were going to charge me 1213.00$ for ins, that i already had .these people need to be fired and someone put in thier place that knows what to do and how to do their job. this was in Eldon missouri office at american family insurance co . what can be done to keep this from happening again for we have a lot of other thing with this same company . i am very unhappy about this .

Well, if you're going to complain about the insurance company, you need to go to the agent first. Then the state insurance department.

However, in my experience, what happens is that bank gets the piece of paper proving you have insurance, and takes about three weeks to match it up to your file, ESPECIALLY if there's the slightest spelling difference between your name on the loan and your name on the policy.

So I think the problem is probably with your bank, not the insurance company.

Depending on where you are from, there is a insurance company called WAWANESA insurance. Never heard anything bad about them… But when I was only 20, I had state farm and paid about 150 a month for a old dodge neon. I tried Wawanesa and they quoted me at about 70 a month… so it was a money saver for me.

I am back at state farm but that is just becuz I got married as well as got older, and multi car discount. they gave us a great deal. see if wawanesa is available to your state

Everyone wants the cheapest auto insurance. Everyone is constantly looking comparing this auto insurance provider with this one. It’s almost like a parlor game, isn’t it. I’ve done it too. If you’ve ever gotten a speeding ticket or have a young teenager itching to drive that you’ve just added to your policy or if you’ve been involved in an accident, it can get more and more expensive, can’t it? Auto insurance is too expensive. You’re not alone. it’s true for almost every American family. You may get your queires answered here,

I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death. - Thomas Paine, The American Crisis, No. 1, December 19, 1776

It was a perfectly straightforward question. The answer was anything but.

President Obama vows not to raise taxes on any American family earning less than $250,000 a year. Yet he backs legislation that would force every American to carry health insurance or pay a hefty penalty to the IRS. Such an “individual mandate’’ is included in all the major health care bills making their way through Congress, including the legislation unveiled by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus last week. So when ABC’s George Stephanopoulos interviewed the president on Sunday, he raised the obvious challenge:
