Is my all state car insurance premium too expensive in Atlanta?

I am living in Atlanta area. My car is a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 35k miles on it. I only drive it to work. I never had any accident. Now my half year premium rose to $520. That is even more than the gas I paid for my half year. My coverage is only the very standard coverage. Is that too expensive for a 2005 car?

Quite a few companies have been increasing their rates lately due to increased claims and Allstate was probably one of them.

The price sounds about right (for full coverage) but if you really care, call some agents working for other insurance companies and ask for a few quotes. You might save a few bucks a month.

How much would all state car insurance cost per year for a 16 year old with a 2004 Pontiac GTO??? ?

Well I just made a quote on the Allstate site and for basic coverage it would be about $3,901 for 6 months. In other words it would cost $7802 a year or $650.16 a month.

Needing Help with your thoughts.

You left out a lot of information, so no one here can provide you any useful "thoughts".

You need to provide more information like the type of policy you have and its limits, who is at fault for your accident, are you insured by allstate, does the other driver have insurance, did you have a lawyer representing you, etc.

If your insurance has a 15/30 limit, the max your insurance is going to pay you is 30 for everything in your accident including all parties involved payouts, laywer and doctor's fees, etc. don't expect 80.

If you move to a higher-cost car insurance state, when does the increase take effect?

If I move to a new state that has higher car theft and higher minimums, which I imagine would definitely increase my premium, would I have to pay as soon as I told the company of the address change? Or, would the increase only be seen on my next bill (a few months later)? This is for moving from Arizona to Washington, if it matters. Thanks!

Each insurance policy is state specific. You can change your address on your current policy but you will be required to change your insurance policy, even if your current company writes in your new state. The forms are state specific and cannot be changed just because you move. That is why you have to purchase a new policy in your new state and then cancel the policy in your old state. When you move to a new state, your new state of residence will probably require that you get your license, registration & insurance in that state within 30-60 days. When you tell your current insurance company your new address, they will set your policy up to nonrenew (meaning they will not offer you a renewal since your policy forms will not be good in your new state). Your premium will probably not change on your current policy because there would be no way for your current policy to be rated out of state. Each company has rates on file in the state they do business & must charge those rates (based on many factors). They cannot charge rates of a different state on your policy.

  • Types of Car Insurance Policies | What Defines Our Life

    Author: Amy Nutt.

The law requires that anyone who drives a car must have car insurance. Purchasing car insurance involves buying a policy from an insurance provider. The premium you pay depends on a number of factors such as age, gender, and the make, model, and year of the car. When you look for an insurance policy that will provide you with appropriate coverage, it is important to understand the types of car insurance policies that are available.

The most common the types of car insurance policies include:

Liability Coverage: This type of insurance is a must-have for every driver. It provides coverage for accidental physical injury and damage to property caused to another person. Physical injury damages can be pain and suffering, medical bills, lost wages, and rehabilitation. Property damage can be damage caused to another driver’s car. State laws determine how much liability coverage you must purchase. States provide a minimum set coverage that one must have, but most people protect themselves by purchasing more liability, however you can always get more coverage. The law requires liability coverage because most people do not have the money to compensate another person for an accident.
