We have checkpoints in mobile, alabama where I live and basically it's where cops stop traffic and check every vehicle for drivers license, insurance, registration, child restraints, etc. Well, I got a ticket for no insurance (I know i'm dumb for not having it, but believe me i'm getting it tomorrow).
My question is does anyone know how much a ticket for no insurance is in Mobile, AL? I've checked the website but they have nothing on how much tickets are. I called the number on the back of the ticket and it doesn't say either. The officer said I may be able to get insurance and on my court date show it to the judge and just pay the $105 court fee and no ticket fee. Is that true also? Please help.
girlnpink1218, I recommend you locate a nearby car insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Idaho I can't recommend anyone in Alabama, but here is an website that can help you. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Auto-I nsurance.html

I had just bought a car two days ago and i don't have insurance for it at the moment and i don't yet have my inspection sticker. i bought it here where i live in austin texas. i had JUST bought the car two days ago so is it possible to drive it to alabama without those things? i have NOT driven the car yet only to bring it to my apartment. since then i haven't touched it. i have no money to get the insurance and stuff at the moment that's why i haven't even driven the car yet.
is there a grace period for this? is there any way i could still drive it just for a couple hour ride?
to olka whatever your named is , it is parked. i WAS asking whether or not it would be legal not if it could be done , but thanks for being a smart ass . (:
it's parked in a private garage. and will stay that way until i figure out what to do. i don't have the money to get the insurance but i'll find a way to.
Can you? Of course. Is it legal? No, it is not. If you are stopped, your vehicle will be towed and impounded.
No, there is no grace period, in fact you should not have driven it home without insurance in place.
You will also need insurance in place to put the vehicle in your name, and register it. Per the web page:
Buyers
If buying from an individual, have the seller accompany you to the county tax office to avoid any unwanted surprises. Before submitting the title application, a tax office representative can tell you if the title being signed over to you is correct and if it has any legal or salvage issues.
If you buy your vehicle from a dealer, the dealer is required to file the title papers on your behalf, so you will not have to visit the tax office. Make sure the dealer provides you with a receipt showing the vehicle has been titled in your name within 20 working days.
In addition to the title, ask the seller to provide you with the vehicle registration receipt, signed vehicle title application and any other supporting documents, such as a release of lien or power of attorney. Keep a written record that includes the name and address of the seller, date of sale and vehicle information, including the Vehicle Identification Number. Failing to title a vehicle within 20 days may result in the buyer being fined.
You must provide proof of liability insurance when you title and/or register your vehicle. If you do not provide proof of insurance, the tax office will not process your application.
If you don't have the money to do what needs to be done, leave it parked, and not on a public street, until you do. And get it done before the 20 days runs out.
We bought a car in Alabama, and had it insured. When we moved back to Mississippi and the other insurance had ended, we picked up coverage in Mississippi. My husband is now working in Alabama, but the car is still on our Mississippi policy. Will Alabama honor the Mississippi policy and coverage?
As long as hubby's legal residence is still in MS, AL should honor it. If AL's requirements (amount of insurance, etc.) are different, the MS policy will automatically adapt.
Can someone tell me what the minimum liability limits for car insurance in Alabama would be?
20k each person 40k each accident for bodily injury and 10k each accident for property damage.thats what i have an i live in southern alabama
Me and my mom we are here in Alabama to visit my brother. We are originally from Switzerland, so we don't have a car. Now my Brother, who lives here offert us to lean his car for a few days (travel around) but we are not shure if this is legal because of the insurance. Can we just take his car? Do we have to get an insurance?
hehe, of course we do have a permission.
ups sorry mean loan the car.
If I was him I would make sure you can drive, he can contact his insurers and ask them directly.
