www.1st-car-insurance-quote.co m Q: A quote that I just received from Admiral Car Insurance was quite low. Is the company legitimated? How could ...
I've been with Admiral car insurance since 2004. Each year i've pretty much let my insurance automatically renew. In 2006 i got 3 points on licence for a speeding offence (my 1st and only). I believe I let my insurance company know of this, but I cannot be certain. These points have now expired as it was over 3 years ago. I got my renewal through the other week and decided to switch insurance companies. I phoned Admiral to let them know this. They said they would try and match the price. They went through the details of my existing policy. When they asked about points on my licence, I said "no new ones, other than the ones you already have on record for me". The girl search the database and found no record of this. Instead of matching my price to the other quote she then said I owed them over £200 for all the 3 previous years policies which did not have these points on. Obviously I was a little shocked by this. I have now switch companies. Admiral still insist I owe them this money. This is despite all of the insurance policies expiring and me never even making a claim. I want to know if they can ask me to pay more for a policy which has already expired and to which I have never even claimed?
Going by your dates you still have those points and yeah you might owe them the money but they won't be able to do anything about it.
We have a multicar policy - my partner and I.
This is the 2nd month of the policy.
Direct debit was set up - month 1, there was a bank error and they cancelled the wronf DD - not Admirals fault, I know.
This month, DD set back up. They would not take an immediate credit card payment for the outstanding payment, instead they insisted to take it through DD. The sent a letter saying the bank said they never recieved the DD mandate and they would send it again.
It has been set up and active on my account for 5 days, and they have not applied for payment. There are funds available for payment. I called them to see when I could expect them to take it. The said once the bank sends them confirmation, I was to call the bank and tell them to send confirmation. I dont this, much to the banks confusion who insisted as soon as DD was active on my account and funds were available that the payment could be taken.
Im getting sick of calling every week, especially when I get transferred to customer services in India, to people with not very good English (no offense, but it gets annoying having to repeat myself 5 times)
Have you ever had trouble with them and is there anything I can do to hurry this up.
Sorry - typo, ''I done this, to the banks confusion...''
Sorry I have no experience of Admiral but this would worry me as they may not have included you on the insurance database or taken you off as you have not yet paid premiums. (I realise that is not for the want of trying!)
Suggest you check on the website link below you are on the database as you may be at risk of the Police seizing the car if it is not on there.
It is dead easy and takes less than a minute
I insure my car with Admiral insurance in the UK. Recently I was involved in a very minor accident, for which I do not intend to claim. It is not clear whether the other party will claim from their insurance or not. If I report the accident to my insurer, even if neither side actually puts in a claim pertaining to the accident, will this be considered as a claim for working out my No Claims Bonus next year?
I had a similar situation a few months ago. Someone clipped my back bumper, no major damage, and no injuries (thankfully). She was humming and hawing about whether she should put it through her insurance.
What I did was to straight away report the incident to my local garda station, just to have the incident on record, and I phoned my insurance company the following day. I didn't give my name, just made the specific enquiry - did I have to officially inform them of an incident in which I had no liability and no claim in. They told me I didn't, so I didn't officially inform them of anything!
The best thing always is to get any minor incident on record in your local police station - that way, you have some recourse if the other party decides to change their story - that happened once to a friend of mine, who ended up getting completely scr*wed by the other party.
Good luck.

18000 Manchester driving fines voided | News Centre | Admiral Car ...
Lawyers have declared that more than 18,000 bus lane fines handed to Manchester motorists by the city council are illegal.
The drivers were caught on camera using Manchester bus lanes between October 2006 and May 2007, BBC News reported .
However, the cameras were only approved for use by the Department for Transport (DfT) in December 2008.
Lawyers have now ruled out retrospective certification, meaning that Manchester City Council may have to pay out more than £544,000 in refunds.
Motorists who think they were fined for the offence during the period are advised to contact the council, which says it will consider each case on its own merits.
Council chief executive Vicky Rosin admitted there had been "a deeply regrettable administrative oversight", though reminded drivers that all bus lane cameras in the city now enjoy DfT approval.
